I'm getting better at volleyball =D

I somehow forgot to post yesterday’s blog, so I’m just gonna leave it here:

“So turns out I was just having a bad day yesterday. Yes, I’m still tired, but I feel a lot better! Today I went to an elementary school, where I had the first, third and fourth years. I usually have the third year in the afternoon, but having them during second period made them so much more manageable. They paid a lot more attention and did very well, saying it was too easy.

With the first years, I joined their music class, so we taught them the BINGO song. Mostly the bingo + clapping part, but they started to sing the rest as well. They did very well. Also one of the first years came to hug me in the morning. I used to teach him in kindergarten as well and back then he always came to hug me, but he stopped once he got to elementary school. I was happy I got a hug today xD this is also the same kid that couldn’t stop crying the first time he saw me xD.

The fourth years were kind of a mess, but I used that to just make them switch seats every few turns of the game, giving them new partners all the time, which actually helped. It still felt chaotic, but they were more into it than usual so that was good. I did have to speak out against some casual racism when they watched a video about different countries, after a few kids kept mentioning how Korea was dirty. They all agreed with me that judging a country without having been there was wrong, though, so that was good.”

After that, I also went to volleyball, where I am definitely improving, so that’s good. I did somehow manage to poke myself in my eye, but thankfully there’s only a small scratch on my eyelid from my nail. Having to explain how I gave myself a black eye would have been way too embarrassing.

Today I went to an elementary school with the other ALT and we had the fifth and sixth years. The sixth years did different country names and we got some more anti-Korea sentiments… One of the girls said she hated foreigners, and when someone said it was super rude to say that in front of me she said “oh no, just Koreans and Chinese people.” Like that makes it any better? This same girl was totally excited about the idea of going to Korea with the other girls, so I feel like she might just be repeating things she has heard instead of her own opinion… But who knows.

I also had an examination for cervical cancer. For the first and last time, because I’m not doing that again. They didn’t explain a single thing (even though the form I hadn’t them said it was my first time), and gosh that hurts. With my period being super irregular I was thinking about going to a gynecologist but I think I’ll take my chances. Let’s just focus on my hernia first.

Other than that, I'm supposed to go to Aomori for a Halloween party with foreigners in Tohoku (I don't know anymore so I'm kind of scared, but some of my New Year's resolutions were being more social and seeing more of Tohoku so I felt like it was kind of two in one xD). But with the typhoon that's coming up supposedly being super strong, I'm a bit worried. They told me it wasn't going to get cancelled, but I'll just see what the weather does before driving up there... All events planned by Japanese people seem to get cancelled because of the typhoon and everyone is telling me to get enough food and water in my house, so yeah, slightly worried.
