The guys enjoyed some chocolate cake before confessing about pictures and coffees...
“So, where do we go from here?” Ennis asks later, after we mess up my lovely, clean, king-sized bed in the nicest possible way.
My fingertips trail over the curve of his naked hip as we lie facing each other. “Not sure. I definitely want to keep doing this though.”
Ennis laughs and squirms a little as my touch tickles him. “You know what I mean.”
“Sure I do.”
Ennis cocks an eyebrow and waits for me to answer the question properly. The guy knows me well - if he keeps his mouth shut long enough I’ll start talking again.
I eventually cave. “Ok,” I sigh. “You mean, do we go public? Tell the kids? Family and so on?”
“Uh huh.” Ennis nods.
“Does your family know about you? The liking dick thing, I mean.”
Ennis reaches over to comb a hand through my hair affectionately. “Subtle as ever, Jack. Divorce, remember? Long story. But yeah, they know.”
I smile. “Bobby likes you.”
“My girls like you too.”
That means something to me. More than I care to admit. It amazes me how young kids can often be the best judge of character. They don’t think, don’t analyse, just react on instinct.
I snuggle against him and bury my face into his neck. He has the most addictive smell. I never want to be further away from him than this. His arms curl around me and I can’t imagine being anywhere else, ever.
The time is right and the words fall effortlessly from my lips. “I love you, you know,” I mumble against his chest.
Ennis holds me tight and I feel his cheek brush over my hair. “Me too,” he whispers.
I can’t help but smile, “I know.”
Ennis laughs and rolls me onto my back, leaning on his elbows to look down into my face. Ok, I changed my mind… THIS is where I want to be forever. I brush a thumb over his lower lip, “you want to stay? Here?”
“Tonight?”
“I was thinking maybe a bit longer than that. A lot longer. If you want? I’ve got the room.” A four-bed townhouse on the edge of town. More than enough for a couple of guys and their part-time family.
“Mmm.” Ennis wriggles his hips against mine and ponders the question. “Appealing idea. You do have a nice bed.”
“Of course. Only the best.”
“Yeah.” Ennis’ breathing hitches, his eyes darkening as I sense we’re about the start round two. “You are.”
