The boys have a date with some meat...
I see Ennis outside the apartment as I approach. He’s walking back and forth, reading something on his cell phone. He’s dressed to kill as always; long sleeved t-shirt and tight denim jeans. He snaps his phone shut as soon as he sees me, shoving it into the rear pocket of his jeans.
He smiles at me, a little embarrassed. “I… uh… needed some air.” He waves his hand around vaguely.
“Sure.”
We do the one armed man-hug thing and part reluctantly. As much as I want to disrobe the guy, I’ve never done it in public and I’m not about to start now.
We walk to my car and he slides into the passenger seat. I watch his legs shift as he moves, muscles bunching in his thighs. I look up and catch his eye. He knows I’m looking, I can’t help it. What am I supposed to do?
The parking lot is dark and we have a little privacy, so I take a chance and lean in close. He hesitates for a second before crushing his lips to mine. Warm, firm and even more addictive than I remembered. The kiss goes on and on. I’m suddenly not feeling hungry for food any more. All I want is him. The creak of the leather seats reminds me of where we are. Necking in a car at my age is so undignified, but I really couldn’t care less. Until the headlights of another vehicle blind us both.
“Damn,” Ennis breathes, pulling back and rubbing at his eyes.
I’m not if he’s cursing the other car, or the passion that sizzles between us.
“Uh… better get going I guess?” I allow myself one last grope of his leg.
“Stop that,” Ennis grabs my hand and moves it away, “or we’ll never get out of here.”
I grin and start up the engine.
The beer is cold and the steak is rare. The company is even better. We both pass on dessert, though I know he’s tempted by the triple chocolate fudge cake. I’ll make it up to him in other ways.
“You coming up?” Ennis asks as I pull up outside his apartment once more.
I take a split second to savor the moment. Full moon tonight, I notice. The pale reflection shimmering on the lake to our left. I can just make out the playground between the trees in the distance. Sexy guy sat next to me. No, that’s not fair, he’s way beyond sexy. He means so much more to me than that. I feel my chest expand and know that I have fallen. Hook, line and sinker. I want to tell him, but it’s too soon.
I swallow the words down and smile back at him instead, running my fingers through his blond hair. “I'd love to.”
