Summary:Twenty Years after their first kiss.
Perhaps it’s funny that, two decades later, he’s the one that stays home with the kids while his wife is out in the world “finding herself”. But Ron doesn’t think so. In his opinion the correct word would be “ironic”.
Now Rose is in Ravenclaw with Scorpius Malfoy, they’re friends and they’ll be just like he and Hermione used to be. Once upon a time, and in a way, their roles are reversed.
Hermione left as soon as the Hogwarts Express was out of sight. She hugged Hugo, said goodbye to the Potters, turned on her heel and disappeared.
Ron almost wishes he could accuse her of cheating, just so they can break it off (that’s his marriage he’s thinking about, his conscience says, sounding like Hermione) properly. Then again, he loves her too much, knows her too well to believe she would ever do such a thing.
Ron stops that train of thought before it makes him bitter and weary. He can’t be angry; that takes more energy than he’s had for years.
So he takes his son’s hand and they leave King’s Cross to spend the rest of the day on their own.
That doesn’t lessen the pain.
