I haven't been around for ages. Again. Some days I really think I should post, and other days I feel like there's no point in even trying to keep up with LJ anymore since I've already been away for what feels like forever. But really, I'm still reading my friends list every day because I care about what's going on with all of you. And even though I barely comment on anything anymore, I do want to try to be better about that. Because I don't want to lose touch with all of you anymore than I already have.

I'm just picking a really bad time of year to start being better about that... :) Things have been kinda crazy for the last couple months or so and with the holidays coming up, I don't think it's slowing down anytime soon.
Josh and I finally finished installing a shower in the second bathroom at my mom's house. We'd been working on this project on weekends for over a year. In our defense, it was a really big ordeal. The previous owner had thought it would be fun to install a ginormo whirlpool tub and then not wire it properly. Seriously, we're talking indoor extension cords and totally not grounded to anything. We had to install new plumbing, put up new drywall and everything. And we did it entirely by ourselves! (Except for moving the location of the drain - we had a professional do that.) But we did all of the rest of the plumbing, and it all works! Neither of us had ever done anything like that before, so I'm very proud of us!

Right after Thanksgiving, I had to go to Nashville for a conference with one of my coworkers. And fortunately, Josh was also able to come with me since it was my first time on a plane. It was actually a pretty good trip and the conference was very informative and not too boring. I have a few pictures from our Nashville adventures. Since I haven't had time to transfer pictures from the camera to my computer, I'm stealing a few from Josh's Flickr.

Taken from the plane - Cincinnati to Nashville. (I still think it was pretty dumb that we had to go from Pittsburgh to Cincinnati then to Nashville instead of straight there, but whatever.)

I watch Food Network allll the time, so this is pretty much the only reason I was excited about going to Nashville. :) The food was yummy. I ordered BBQ spaghetti which sounds weird, but I watched the Neelys make it on their show and it looked kinda good. And it was, but it was a just a smidge too spicy for me, so I ended up trading with Josh and eating half of his ribs. And they really were the best ribs ever. We ended up buying some sauce and dry rub to take home with us.

The next night we went to B.B. King's Blues Club. It was a lot of fun - nice atmosphere, good live music, and really good food.

Even though I was kinda bummed to be going to Nashville and not somewhere fun, it ended up being a good trip. I got to see for myself that flying really isn't so scary - though taking off and landing are a whole other issue! We all got to watch the end of the Steelers game in the hotel lobby and found out that our concierge is a huge Steelers fan. (We really are everywhere!) :) We got to enjoy some delicious food, and discover that downtown Nashville really is a pretty cool place even if you're not that into country music. I actually don't think I'd mind going back there sometime.

Christmas is sneaking up on me way too fast. Between being away for Thanksgiving and then the Nashville trip right after, there hasn't been a whole lot of time for shopping or decorating. It doesn't help that we have no weekends to do anything. Last Saturday was taken up by WVU's last home football game of the season. Sunday we were able to do a little bit. This weekend we're going over to the DC area to visit friends and my sister-in-law. Next weekend, there's a WVU basketball game and then a friend's birthday party. And then Christmas is pretty much here! I would realllly like to do some baking, so hopefully I can squeeze that in there somewhere.
