Please excuse the mess, we're focusing on the yarn stash not my housekeeping (which is attrocious, I admit it).

So, not that long ago I stumbled on this idea. I was originally going to use it for clothing (which is what's in the teal bins on the left) but the longer I looked at my old stash solution, the more I thought this would be a great idea. Now I everything is easily accessible - rather than being in the bottom of the bottom bin of a huge stack - and I can actually SEE the yarns I have. I want to expand on it a little bit, some of the drawers are more combined and/or cramped than I'd like, but that will require rearranging other parts of the room, and that's a lot easier said than done. Besides, those things are expensive - $20 for 3 of the big drawers.

FYI - anyone who's thinking of this as an option for your stash. The trick is that the sets are totally modular. So you buy the number of drawers you need, then pop the frames apart and build the stacks you want. The one on the far right is one of the 5 drawer carts on the bottom with the 2 small drawers of another cart on top of those and 2 of the bottom drawers from a 5 drawer cart on top of that. I wanted all the parts to be the same height so I could have the coned yarns on top.

Also - The tops won't hold weight by themselves, you'll need a piece of wood or something to lay over them to make it more flat & sturdy. It's not a bad idea, if you're going to stack the carts pretty high, to have some way of anchoring them together - in this case I used the side of a disassembeled pressboard bookshelf to lay across the top. It helps them stay together and provides a display shelf.
