so hurry down the chimney tonight

Before the strike ended about twenty-four hours ago, when the buses and trains finally set in motion, I managed to cross out of Brooklyn, through Queens, and into Manhattan over the Queensboro Bridge in a rampant fit of restlessness and Doris-rescuing. And then I did it twice more the very next afternoon.  Of course, the second and third time there were no Serendipity desserts and 5th Ave holiday displays to reward me, but Yoko and my camera provided sufficient amusement nonetheless.

And today, well, today I went to see King Kong with Evelyn and Jeesoo.  It was exciting.  In fact, Jeesoo squeezed my arm until it went numb a good few times in response to what she later referred to as the film being "too intense." Because I am still all about seizing my three weeks in New York, I must say, few things could have enhanced the already amazing King Kong movie experience than Jeesoo and I coming out onto 34th St and 8th Ave to see the Empire State Building lit up green and red before us.

On an only vaguely related note, I love friends whose unexpected and seemingly random gifts reflect a purposeful spontaneity that can only be achieved through an all too extensive knowledge of my habits and personality.  Scary, but yet so awesome.  With that, I'm off to enjoy some of those gifts now.  Happy holidays, everyone.
