Happy Easter, readers who celebrate it!
This is the season for regional New Year Days and Spring Festivals, and I had quite forgotten that Easter is this weekend, since it is not a public holiday here, until I saw an article online about rabbits in Roman Britain, and was reminded.
In the absence of the housekeeper on leave, I shall not venture upon Hot Cross Buns just yet. The oven in this house is temperamental and requires a familiar hand. It can wait until May. I have a good recipe that has been successful before, so long as I remember that freshly ground spices are very much stronger than the bottled kind.
