(Mostly critical) thoughts on Twilight so far:

- The preface is just confusing. Honestly, why have it there at all? All it does is create unrealistic expectations about the ending, which probably isn't that good anyway.

- Edward is only marginally attractive. And I've been fixated on my share of fictional men, believe me.

- All the spiel on how ( Read more... )

Same with the people I know. They haven't said so to me, but the Facebook groups they've joined say plenty. A friend of mine also was unsuccessful in trying to read it, and said it wasn't that good. I linked her to this, actually, so maybe she'll at least get a kick out of reading my criticism. In any case, Twilight and the books following it have spawned a lot of bad fan fiction.

I'll probably make more notes as I'm reading it, due to lack of anything better to do. If I forget, you can just bug me later and I'll tell you. :D

And see me, I just assumed that this book was in fact bad fan fiction. That is who it is written... like a terrible Mary Sue.

hi, i found a link to this on phantomgirl110 journal. =D you = my hero for writing this. i agree with the preface thing - she does the same thing in the second book (yes, i've read the first three, but don't judge me - it was a dare! lol) and it seems completely pointless. i think that people fall in love with edward because he's perfect, but that actually turns me off him. it's the classic mary sue syndrome. i don't care about some beautiful vampire whose only problem is that he is in love with some pathetic girl. bella drives me up the wall as well. you are so RIGHT about all those guys asking her out - what was the point of that?
