Web intertwined with life.

More and more, I am seeing the ramifications of having a "hooked-in" life.

It started out when dad bought me a smart phone. I thought, "wow, how excessive. I wont really need this expensive piece of techie toy."

Then, after a while of playing around the phone, i have managed to able to link together my google account to my phone, effectively synchronizing my calendar of events (in which i have put in my homeworks and class schedules, work and social schedules). I thought, "how useful, being able to be reminded of all due dates and appointments and meetings. and easily editable and accessible in both cell and computer."

then, when the google talk feature came about, google automatically loaded my contact list from my cellphone to the internet. and this is when i start going "oh-o, shiznuts! how'd google know the phone numbers of my friends." it's sort of earie. to an untrained person, it may seem private, what with a super secure password (not!) and username and everything. but, i can't help feeling that somewhere in the interworld, someone would be able to access all these information and get a hold on to my friends and call them for viagra samples.

then google voice came along and gave me a google number where i can hook up my cell phone, home phone and whathaveyou's and call me on all those phone simultaneously when someone calls me. and then can send text messages to everyone for free (provided i have internet access). hey, the pro is, as long as i have internet, I have "free nationwide calls and unlimited texting." what's bad about that? what scares the crap out of me is that, well, all these conversations can be recorded somewhere, it's in the web. someone will know.

and now i am thinking, is google providing all these free services and one day, take over the world because people just plain ol become too dependent on their services? is someone spying on people's conversations? the next step to this would be that they might steal our identity and put our friends in danger's way.

I can't help but to think that one day, google would evolve into a self-thinking monster, swallows up everything and enslave humans. but then again, that is the nightmare of most techies.

hey, but atleast now, I can call and text whomever for free. who needs phones nowadays.
