i do think that would make a good dessert soup; either with melty ice cream or cold crème anglaise swirled (but not fully mixed) with the hot rhubarb compote.

grew up with rhubarb sauce. tastes great with the ice cream. also works well on waffles when they're nice and crispy. makes a good contrast.
