you''ve had the primary set of typhoid shots. After that, all you need to be is boostered.

I still remember the effect of getting all our shots when my father (a TWA pilot) and mu mom decided to do an Europe/Egypt tour. When I was in third grade.

We were supposed to make stops in Madrid and Lisbon after Cairo (all cities served by TWA) but apparently (I have NO memory of this) someone slipped me a Coke made with local water while someone else was selling mom perfume in the souk, and I got horribly ill with a gastroenteritis of some sort.

They had to take me straight back home.

flash forward to college, I was working in water quality testing lab for extra credit. It was long agp, we used straight pipettes with no filter, and we had a lab cat that jumped onto my legs (as I sat on a lab stool), dug in and I gasped in nasty Miami River and Coral Gable canal water.

First thing out of our professor's mouth was "have you ever had the typhoid series?" I said, 'yes' and he said, 'good, you'll just have to be boostered," as he was writing the note for student health. The only other thing they worried about, that long ago, was, I think. hepatitis (in a general way), so I also got a gamma globulin shot, which hurt like hell.
