It's Doctor Who day!

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm excited to check out Peter Capaldi's Doctor tonight. I've watched all the specials BBCA has aired throughout the week, and it looks like our entire evening will be devoted to BBCA.

First we have the intro special with Chris Hardwick, then the first episode, followed by the premiere of Intruders with John Simm, Mira Sorvino, and James Frain. Top that off with an hour live Doctor Who after special. Yup, our night is set up to midnight!

Unfortunately that means Hell on Wheels has to be dvr'd. And suddenly Saturday becomes a big TV night - assuming Intruders clicks with us. The Spousal Unit and I already checked out and ditched a few summer shows I thought would be hits with us, like The Last Ship and The Strain. Really unimpressed and bored. We've stuck with Extant even though it's not really good either, but at this point I'm just curious how they're going to wrap it up. I'm kind of meh on Outlander too - never read the books, and the whole thing is a little too Harlequin Romance'ish for my taste - definitely for TSU's taste as he was out after the first episode. I'll probably stick with it as there's enough historial content to pique my interest, the scenery is breathtaking, and the opening theme song is truly gorgeous. It's honestly the best thing about the series so far. ;)

The HBO premiere flick tonight is Veronica Mars, which I already bought and watched as soon as it was released on dvd. It's a good companion to my series set, which I still have. I don't know that anyone who wasn't a VM fan would have gotten into it or been at all interested in seeing it, though, because you really had to know the series to understand or like the movie, IMO. I don't have any idea how it did at the box office, especially as I assume its run was pretty limited. But I'm hoping with the dvd sales that they at least made the Kickstarter money they put into making it.

I watched it with vala3, and I think we both enjoyed it, for what it was. But, of course, we're fans. :)

Anyway, yay! for Doctor Who night! Now I just have to figure out what we're going to do for dinner as I still refuse to cook until this brutal heat wave is over.
