Just getting ready to sit down and read before the EPIC Fargo finale tonight, and I thought, hey, I should probably post what I've read so far this year.
1.
Angelology, by Danielle Trussoni. I enjoyed the book so much I ordered the sequel, Angelopolis, and it's sitting in the TBR pile. Thinking I might pick it up next. Though I pick and choose which books to read based on my mood at the moment. Who knew angels could be scarier than zombies, vampires, werewolves, and all the rest?
2.
Telegraph Avenue, by Michael Chabon.
3.
San Francisco Poems, by Lawrence Ferlinghetti. Bought this little booklet when I visited the City of Lights Bookstore in San Francisco. Then I sent it to The Girl Child to read after I got done after I got done with it, along with my copy of Howl, which the US Post Office then promptly lost. Seriously, how the fuck does mail go missing here in the 21st century?
3.
Doctor Sleep, by Stephen King. His post-sober AA-pimping sequel to The Shining.
4.
In One Person, by John Irving.
5.
Work Done For Hire, by Joe Haldeman. After I bought this book I read some of the reviews, and the ones that struck me were the complaints that Joe sleptwalked his way through this novel, and sadly it was true. Definitely not his best effort - if any effort. Disappointing.
6.
Beautiful Ruins, by Jess Walter.
7.
Thunderstruck, by Erik Larson.
8.
Open Season, by C.J. Box. First in the Joe Pickett series.
9.
The Mysterious Death of Miss Jane Austen, by Lindsay Ashford.
10.
The Children's Book, by A.S. Byatt.
11.
Midnight Come, by Michael David Anthony. Second in a "felony and mayhem" three-part series set around Canterbury Cathedral.
Right now I'm in the middle of reading:
12.
Salinger, by David Shields and Shane Salerno.
and ...
13.
The Buddha Walks Into a Bar, by Lodro Rinzler.
