It's as good a day as any to post something. I hope if and when Santa brings me a new computer (please-please-please!), I'll be inclined to keep up more than I do now. I still really like the format here, I'm incredibly grateful for the flisters who are still posting and chatting, and it's not like I've scampered off to tumblr, which I don't get at all (especially for the amount of wank I come across), or Facebook, which I broke down and set up a year ago after much goading, and have mostly ignored ever since because I find it incredibly annoying and not as much fun as some folks do.
I do keep up with twitter more than I ever thought I would, but definitely not as much as most twitter followers. Sometimes I talk a lot on it, other times I don't check in for weeks. And I still hang out at my favorite Jensen/Dean board as well as the Supernatural forum at imdb (a more recent occurrence).
Still, there's a lot I'm not doing because my current pc has been dying a slow death for a couple of years now, and is at the final death throes stage. If it gasps its way to the new year, I'd be surprised. Maybe I'll bury it in the backyard and say a prayer.
And the little netbook The Spousal Unit got for me a few years ago was never all that user-friendly, as
gatorpez can attest the couple of times she tried to use it when she was visiting. TSU finally came across the reason it was always so buggy and slow as molasses - even slower than my dying like a dying thing pc. Apparently they discovered that netbooks and Windows 7 were really not compatible (gee, ya think?). Too bad 'cuz it's cute and compact and should be convenient - except not so much.
Anyway, speaking of Christmas, we're all decorated and I'm pretty much done shopping. I sent out my cards this week and started my wrapping. This year, though, Christmas day is a bit up in the air and I haven't actually made any plans yet.
The Boy is leaving on a train next week to spend Christmas in Charleston, SC with his girlfriend's family (his Christmas present to me, and I couldn't have been happier to buy the tickets for him). There is an ulterior motive behind this trip, as we're hoping he puts some feelers out, gets a sense for the area, likes it, and after the first of the year finds a job. He completed his administrative program at the tech school, and TSU told him it's time to move on. For all our sakes.
So with him gone, and my Sibling back in Virginia Beach, that really leaves myself, TSU, The Girl Child, and the pups. Could be a really lay-back affair, which is fine by me. We'll see TGC's BF sometime over the holiday too since he'll be coming home from Ft. Meade for Christmas.
Thanksgiving with our Tampa pals was fun, except for the horrible traffic coming back after dinner (and around Tampa in general, which is terrible 24/7/365). They're coming over this weekend to see The Hobbit with us on Sunday. If they have no plans for Christmas, we'll ask if they want to come over for the day. If not, again, we may just be sleeping in, kicking back, and doing it really casual this year.
vala3 was in town the first weekend in December and she stopped by on her way to the theme park area to visit and have lunch. We'll get up to Gainesville some time over the holiday, but, again, no firm plans.
I hope this makes sense since I'm a little loopy on generic Benadryl right now. Doesn't help that the weather is gloomy and rainy - though we need the rain, so I'm okay with that. But I don't like the hot muggy 100% humidity we've had for the last week. We had such lovely cool weather since before Halloween; but in typical Florida fashion, it gets hot again around Christmas. Go figure.
Home repairs/improvements this year really screwed with my reading time.
