The last time I posted it was to hope Irene wouldn't slam into Florida. Since then she's become a concern for all our friends from NC up the NE coast, so trust me when I say I feel ya this weekend. Now that Irene has made landfall in NC, though, it looks like she'll lose a lot of steam the further up the coast she goes, so that's a good thing. Still, lots of water and some wind, so stay prepared this weekend because over-prepared is better than caught unawares. We've been through both scenarios.
Of course, who knew you guys would be dealing with this on top of a freaking earthquake. Did the coast lines flip when I wasn't looking or something? Don't tell me Mother Nature isn't pissed off. I think the weather haps this weekend, on top of the brutal heat earlier this summer, has The Sibling more and more anxious to leave Virginia and move back to Florida.
Which is a good thing, and maybe Karma is telling her something, since she just closed on a home-equity loan to buy out my half of The Maternal Unit's house in Lakeland. So the house is officially hers now. We met with our finance adviser yesterday and he suggested that we put that money on our own mortgage and pay off our house in the next year or two.
I fear we lost our movie mojo and didn't get out to see either Rise of the Planet of the Apes yet or Fright Night, which opened last weekend and was the one I kinda wanted to see at the time. We started biking a few weekends ago, and then other things always come up that we want to do, and now it's hard to find the time or the energy. We may still try and get out to the movies tomorrow afternoon - though if we do, I think we're going to see
Attack the Block, which is the one The Spousal Unit really wants to see, and looks interesting. We'll see if the mojo is there tomorrow.
Next weekend Gator football starts, and we have season tickets now, so there go our Saturdays, at least during home games.
Today we hit the mall, which we haven't done in ages, just to go to Williams & Sonoma to look for a certain kind of cutting board TSU wants for making pie crust. Came up empty-handed, but he did snag an implement he wanted for mixing the flour and shortening. Hit the Godiva store, had a bite of lunch, then came home.
New Doctor Who tonight - woo-hoo!
