Every time I begin to think we should change up our cable/internet provider/needs, I'm reminded that I'd miss having access to Brighthouse's local 24/7 news station, especially in times of severe weather like we've been having since yesterday afternoon. We're getting hit with this monster spring storm that's about to dump more snow in the NE (sorry guys), in the form of deluging rain, severe thunderstorms, and tornadic activity. Yesterday afternoon we had hurricane-force winds which knocked out the power for about two hours. It poured all night and now we're in the middle of a continuing line of storm cells pushing through very fast with more of the same until some time this afternoon. So I thought I'd try to post before we possibly lose power again.
Last night when there was a break from the rain, and after the worst cell had pushed through, we took the dogs for a walk to see some of the damage around the neighborhoods, and the little Dachshund must have stepped wrong on some of the debris on the ground because she suddenly started limping, holding up her back leg, and The Spousal Unit ended up having to carry her home. Throughout the evening she couldn't put any weight on the back leg, couldn't get comfortable anywhere to lay down. We checked her paw pad and could move the back leg without her being in excruciating pain, so she hadn't broken or dislocated anything. Best we could figure is she pulled a muscle. I gave her a low-dose baby aspirin in a pill pocket, and it finally kicked in and she managed to fall asleep. By the time we were done watching Justified and took the dogs outside for one last constitutional, she was walking just fine. So luckily no emergency vet visit this morning, which is what I feared. She's good today, but terrified of all the stormy weather.
I still have to get out in this mess and drive The Boy to the airport for work around 1 pm (trying to take the buses today is out of the question), and I'm hoping the worst of it is going to be done by then. Of course, because of all the flight delays, he's going to be slammed at the restaurant he works at that's located in one of the terminals. They always are whenever there are flight delays.
Anyway, speaking of Justified,
Woo-hoo! for a third season renewal! As for last night's episode, what was in that bag?
Yost claims it was a badger. I was thinking possibly a possum, 'cuz those suckers are nasty giant rats with sharp teeth - but, yeah, a badger would be even nastier. Either way, score one for Ava and her shotgun (RIP Charlie) who has come through twice this season to save Boyd's ass. I'm suddenly liking that girl a lot more this year, and I think Raylan made the wrong choice between she and Winona, who I really can't stand at all. Ava was always a lot more interesting than Winona, even when I wasn't high on her, because of her relationship with the Crowders. Winona and her idiot realtor husband have never been remotely interesting. I was happy that last night's episode gave us a welcome reprieve from her stupidity with the stolen money story line.
I am liking the Black Pike rep, though. She's one feisty redhead, Raylan.
Those in-bred Bennetts are a lot scarier than the Crowder Clan. I can't wait until Richard Speight Jr. shows up in his guest-starring turn.
Tomorrow TSU is going over to Lakeland for the big annual airshow, and I'll be spending most of the day in the yard weeding (weeds LOVE this kind of weather) and raking up all the debris from these storms.
