I'm holding off until I can actually buy Jensen's
Red Hood project on dvd at the end of this month, even though I know fans are d/l'ing the flick now. Since I'm not usually a fan of these animated films (though I like the clips I've seen so far!), I want to wait to savor it when I have the dvd in my hot little hands - and, too, gotta support The Jensen! And I want the Best Buy exclusive that I think is supposed to come with a little Red Hood doll because it's as close to having a mini-Jensen of my own as I'm ever going to get. LOL! And, I gotta be honest, I'm actually anticipating this dvd more than Supernatural's sixth season.
I'm thrilled that Jensen's voice work is getting rave reviews - thrilled, but not surprised. Seriously, this guy is a talent, and I love how he branches out to do different things. I think he's got a long successful and varied career ahead of him.
It sounds like quite a few folks on my flist are being felled by headaches and allergies, and since I know we're all in different parts of the country and world, I gotta wonder what the common denominator is?
It's freaking me out because I too have been suffering from sinus infection-like symptoms and migraines of the like I haven't had in a couple of years. It started on Sunday afternoon when my day began okay - got up, did a little laundry, hit the grocery store, had a bite of lunch, and painted the ceiling in my shower. Then I sat down to watch a couple things I had sitting on the dvr, which I intended to follow up by curling up with a couple of books. But suddenly I started getting more and more headachy, then nauseous, then it all went downhill from there and I spent the rest of the day with a sinus pack on my head in bed.
Felt a little better on Monday, still wonky with a ghost of a headache looming most of the day. And then yesterday it hit me again for a few hours, and on both Sunday and yesterday I broke down and took Benadryl, which I'm afraid of doing because it wreaks havoc with my BP and I had become so dependent upon it for a few years, and actually had to detox off it. That was a load of fun - not. So it scares me that this is the only thing that's been working for me this week.
I managed to stay alert enough to watch Leverage on Sunday night, followed by the premiere of The Glades on A&E. Wasn't all that taken with The Glades, even though I certainly like to support anything being filmed in Florida. Maybe I'll give it another shot with the second episode, but I don't think it's going to become "Must See" material.
Monday night I watched the premiere of Rizzoli and Isles, and aside from thinking it's a femslasher's dream vehicle, I found the writing to be trite and highly predictable. Plus, I just don't think Angie Harmon is a very good actor. She essentially plays the same role all the time. She's pretty, though. Love her hair. ;) Aside from that, it's not one that I'll fall all over myself to catch every week, though if nothing competes with it, I may flip it on for noise. For any flisters who did really like this one, though, apparently it did very well in the ratings, and I do think it's a good fit with The Closer.
I'm annoyed that White Collar and Warehouse 13 air opposite each other at 9 pm on Tuesday nights now. Boo! Thank goodness for the dvr. Since The Spousal Unit doesn't care about WC, we watch WH13 live and I have to dvr WC - so I still need to watch the premiere today. Then there was the premiere of Covert Affairs at 10 pm last night which boasts a lot of actors that I like - but the promos smacked too close to Alias, and I was never a fan of that show. But I watched the whole thing, and while I still don't quite believe in the female lead, and I hate that an actor of Anne Dudek's caliber is being wasted in the clueless sister role, nor did I like seeing Kari Matchett reduced to the jealous wife role, I liked the episode overall a bit better than I thought I would. Not entirely sold, but I'm interested enough to watch at least a couple more episodes to see what kind of a show it settles into.
I thought the Founder's Day premiere of Eureka on Friday night was an excellent way to reboot an established series. And I love James Callis' character, Dr. Grant, who was yanked in from the past with the main cast. Not quite sold on his American accent attempt, but the character was charming enough for me to overlook it. Plus, James Callis FTW! And I hope now that Eastwick was canceled and Jaime Ray Newman is freed up, maybe Tess will stick around for most of the season since I actually like her with Jack better than the constantly aborted attempts between Jack and Allison. It's old now.
And while the critics didn't seem to like Haven, I actually did. I thought the premiere was choppy, and maybe they introduced too many characters in the first episode. But, in general, I liked the main characters, and I especially liked Audrey Parker, the female lead, who didn't impress me at all in the previews, but who I thought was more witty and adorable when watching the whole episode. I think given a couple more episodes to find its footing, this one has at least as much potential as Eureka or Warehouse 13. And seeing Nicholas Campbell in the premiere as the Sheriff who is also Nathan's father was very cool! I hope he's going to be a recurring character. And I'm always up for seeing more of Eric Balfour. So I really liked the cast, I love the beautiful locale, and I think there's a story here. Anyway, I've put it on my "Must See" list for now.
I can't believe Vidcon is in a couple of days. *ack*! I'm not ready.
