Australia Part 2

So after arriving in Sydney, we had to claim baggage and proceed through customs.  It didn't take too long, so that was good.  Then we went to check in for our connecting flight to Brisbane.  Turns out, they booked me on the wrong flight - doh!  I had to pay a fee (which I put in my expense report, don't worry) to get on the earlier flight with Tony.  So that all worked out fine and well, I played some more poker with Tony's guidance (he apparently gambles a lot) and waited for the flight.

The trip from Sydney to Brisbane was short, only about an hour and a half, and we arrived somewhere around 11:30am.  We took a cab to our hotel and checked in.  I had what could easily be described as the most orgasmic shower and teeth brushing in my entire life.  After that, I set up my internet, sent off a few quick emails and IMs, and decided to test out the bed.  7 hours later (at 8pm) I woke up.  Oops!  There went my Saturday!  I went back to sleep and kept waking up throughout the night, but I was very rested, and got up around 5am.

I had another nice shower and relaxing room service breakfast, and Tony called around 8.  We walked around the city a bit in search of a Starbucks (for him - I ended up getting an iced mocha drink that was actually quite tasty though). He had a headache so we went back to the hotel so I could get him some Motrin.  After that, we went down to the concierge to get a map of the city.  We walked around for about 5 hours, then came back to see about some food (by this time it was about 2:30pm).  The guy recommended this place called Tukka - which served kangaroo and crocodile and emu - all things Tony had a hankering to try out.  It was quite a walk and we got there at around 3pm - which is, coincidentally, when they stop serving lunch and CLOSE until 5:30.  What a bummer.  I did get to see two monstrous dogs - one of which had enormous, saggy hanging teats and the other a set of balls like I have never seen before in my life...  crazy!  I didn't mention this to Tony, but I am sure he thought the same thing.  I'm not one to look or even notice those things usually but DANG.

Anyway, so we walked all the way back to the hotel and I was wiped out.  I don't remember where we went to eat... I think that Tony ordered room service and I had a few of his fries.  We played gin for a while, which was pretty fun, I hadn't ever played before, and I picked it up pretty quick.  I think I ended up going to sleep around 8 or 9 that night, cause the next day we had to be at the office early to set everything up.

Monday was a set up day for work.  Tony set up the server and I set up the workstations, taking special precaution to remove any non-internationally safe materials for consumption.  It was a long day - we ended up putting in 12 hours altogether.  But at the end, we felt pretty confident for Tuesday's class.

Tuesday we did an overview of our products and a brief intro into the class materials.  Wednesday we focused on Product 1, and Thursday on Product 2.  Friday was a "free" day, but we ended up having a lot of questions, so I didn't get to leave early as I had hoped (I'd wanted to go to a local Koala/Kangaroo Sanctuary that evening, but no dice).

All in all, it was a very brief trip, and I didn't get to do much at all, besides work and soak up knowledge.  They are sending me to Alabama on April 30, so I guess I will move into training in greater depth in the future.  We shall see...

I will end there, as it is the evening where Katie is celebrating her birthday.  I'm excited to actually hang out with her for a change.  We better get some pictures damn it!
