update

This is tessa updating per Anne's instructions for all of her dear LJ friends.  Anne would say she is doing fine-sorta.  She is In Hospice comfort care at First Community Village in Columbus Ohio.  The last month has been a roller coaster ride and taken us somewhat by suprise by the quickness of the bowel obstruction crisis.  I am told that the roller coaster ride is over and it will be a gentle slow decline to a quiet sleep.  Anne is alert, positive and pain free (which is the most important thing about comfort care).  The Hospice and nursing home teams are very good and attentive to all of her needs. I have taken four boxes of popsickles and fudgebars to be stored in the nurse's freezer for her pleasure and for bribes ;0) She has a huge window with a birdfeeder on it and old trees outside to view.  This is very very important to her to be able to watch spring emerge victorious over the winter.......  and we have had a bad winter........... but spring is here.......the cardinals and robins are loud and playing.  Last week we saw three hawks outside the window at Kobacker House.......... please feel free to email her news and gossip and I will get them to her.  She constantly tells me to let her friends know how much she appreciates them and loves them. Her freidns are her comfort during this difficult time.

update 3-16-2007

Ann passed at First Comunity Village today at 2:06 p.m.  She was painfree and at peace.  Ann fought ovarian cancer valiantly for 3 years exactly.  She said in the last days that she was communicating (somewhat)  "we must warn them."  I can only surmise she was still concerned as always about letting folks know about the dread disease and how to spot signs of it.  Annie will be greatly missed and remembered for her humour, quick wit, deep inteligence and insight and great love and thankfulness.  It is a priveledge to have been her friend and sister.  She will be greatly missed.
