With one eye I laugh and with the other I cry because the Vuelta is just CRAZY.
First of all, I'm going to cry some more because of this this and and this. I just can't believe it. When I checked the Vuelta updates before it went live on TV, I really, seriously felt like crying. Why, Matti... why?! Oh, god, this year has been an absolute nightmare for poor Matti and I had such hopes for him to do well on home soil at the Worlds. Ditte, just so you know, I am hugging you big time atm. *hugs*
Onto the less sad stuff, OMG did you see that finish? The pointless LT pulling after the chase followed by mad descending by Leaky, then the green ITT + 1 sneaky intruder who almost messed it up for them? Then Sagan ftw because Lastras was gonna screw them all and Nibs absolutely FURIOUS with the guy I think is his room mate (Valerio Agnoli). No bonus seconds for Vincenzo and poor Peter Sagan was sooo embarrassed, almost panicky during his post stage interview. It's his first stage win in his first GT and the kid should have been ecstatic. Instead, they were trying to calm Vincenzo down. Hopefully, when they've cooled off they'll celebrate a bit because that was some kick ass team effort and a great finish to a stage that seemed to have 'sprinters' written all over it.
Amazing racing. Now hopefully there's something to see later, during that American race where you don't see much of anything except scary mountains and the finish line.
