I am so removed from what is going on in Germany's television world that I hadn't realized that we apparently won the Eurovision. XDD
I didn't know that Lena girl either, well, I had heard about her but thanks to your link this was the first time I ever heard her song. (I am still very surprised she could win with that song... I guess I really still prefer Nicole's „Flieg nicht so hoch, mein kleiner Freund“ from 28 years ago. (damn, it's been a long time!) )
I have to say, I am very surprised to learn that someone outside Europe knows about this contest. :)
Oh, I learned about it a few years ago: I started paying closer attention when that Finnish rock band with the outlandish outfits won. *g* The whole event seems to be cheesy, spectacular fun to me, maybe because I only see the semi-final/final performances and don't have to live with the entire process. Plus, sometimes there's good songs! :D
Then again, growing up in Hawaii I've been listening to Japanese music for decades, even if I don't know the lyrics!
Ah, Nordic bands are very popular here. Almost any act from Sweden, Finland or Iceland achieves quick fame status in Europe. I have no idea how they do it - but those guys have huge talent! <3 If you like that kind of music I could recommend you a couple of bands/artists from the North. :D
:) We have some similar with Italian, Spanish, French or Turkish songs - they are all around us but almost no one understands them. XDD
I always take music recommendations! It's amazing the wonderful treasures found by this kind of sharing. I like just about anything except rap, reggae and really twangy country music - those these days I'm really into what I call classical dance or classical rock music: lots of violins, cellos, violas with a heavy dance/rock beat.
