Your main fandom of the year?
Hmm, difficult question. I can't really remember to the beginning of the year very well anymore, but I'm pretty sure I was obsessing at least Star Trek reboot, HP and X-Men: First Class. Then the Avengers came out and I read everything I could get my hands on there, including related Marvel things. Then
trystings and
berlinghoff79 got me into Teen Wolf, and I've definitely read a huge amount there. Currently I'm obsessing Grimm, although that's so recent it probably can't count for a main anything - I'm not sure I've yet passed my first hundred fics read landmark. Oh, and there was definitely an intense Sherlock phase at some point this year. Of course, when I get into a fandom I never completely leave it, so I'm still reading all the things mentioned above and more. TeeWo and Marvel probably beat the others in sheer quantity I've read this year, but I'm honestly not sure whether TeeWo has passed Marvel as a whole or not. It might have passed the Avengers itself, maybe.
Your favorite film watched this year?
The Avengers, hands down.
Your favorite book read this year?
I've read much, much more in fics than actual books for the past years, especially after I quit working at the library, and I honestly can't remember which books I've read this year, so let's go with the newest Dresden Files. That one I read last week, and Jim Butcher is always enjoyable to read.
Your favorite album or song to listen to this year?
Hum. Gackt is still my all-time favourite, but Soen is definitely my favourite discovery of the year. They only have one album yet, Cognitive.
Your favorite TV show of the year?
Hmm, this is even more difficult than the main fandom. I love TeeWo fics and it has easily been my main TV series fandom, but the show itself really is pretty terrible. The writing, oh gods, the writing... and the cgi with the ape wolves... and the love-sick potato... In the end I think this one will be a competition between Sherlock, Pride and Prejudice (1995), The Hollow Crown, and Grimm. Right at this moment Grimm feels like it's winning, but I'm in the middle of my obsession so I may not be very objective :P
Your favorite DW/LJ community of the year?
I kind of avoid communities since I don't have to follow them, but I've spent a fair amount of time at
teenwolffinders.
Your best new fandom discovery of the year?
Teen Wolf. Absolutely stunning fics especially considering the poor quality of the source materials. The Avengers and Grimm are good runners-up, although the latter fandom really could be larger. Don't let Nick's hair push you out of this show, people! It does get better... ^.^
Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year?
Uh. No idea? There have been disappointing fics and disappointing eps, but usually I don't go in expecting much, pessimist as I am, so nothing really stands out. Well, Brave was much worse film than I expected, but I can't say I've ever been in that fandom. Is there such a fandom? Oh, oh! Let's go with the Hollow Crown not being available as blu-ray! What's wrong with you, people who decide these things? Give me my high quality Hiddles, I'm willing to pay for it! Oh, and I did get stuck in the beginning of Merlin's third season...
Your fandom boyfriend of the year?
Again with the 'uh'. These things aren't really part of my vocabulary. I'll go with Hiddles, but I'm not too sure that actually counts.
Your fandom girlfriend of the year?
Er... I like several women in various shows and films, but I obsess on them even less than I obsess on the men. But if we expand to the people who are in the fandom as well,
debris_k for the numerous impromptu watch-alongs and not-quite-watch-alongs,
tinnny for the lovely emails, and all my other new friends, you know who you are :) (Those of you who are male may choose to consider yourself in the previous category, if you wish...) And I still adore my old friends as well, with honorary mention to
the_muppet who has always been an absolute treasure, and
lavvyan who still hasn't lynched me for not returning her books...
Your biggest squee moment of the year?
The Avengers, I suppose. I even went to watch it twice in the cinema, something that almost never happens.
The most missed of your old fandoms?
Well, whenever I miss my old fandoms I go and read them, so it's not like I'm actually pining for anything... But as far as the source material goes, SGA is possibly the series I was most disappointed to see ending, and losing that of course cut down on the amount of new fics as well.
The fandom you haven't tried yet, but want to?
Haven't seen the Hobbit yet, does that count? I already like Kili from the pics and gifs I've seen, and I'm definitely in the mood for more Tolkien after the LotR watch-alongs with
simboo :) Oh, and I haven't seen the Skyfall yet either, so I've had to skip quite a few fics. Does it have as bad shaky-cam as the previous film? I'm looking forward to Ben Whishaw, but I very much do not want a repeat of the Quantum of Solace.
Your biggest fan anticipations for the New Year?
I try not to do that (see: pessimist), but I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with the MCU next and the next Star Trek at least. I hope I'll still be excited about Grimm when there's more of it, and I hope the fics will keep saving TeeWo since I expect the third season shall be as terrible as the previous ones... I'm a bit lost on whether there will be more Sherlock or not next year, but I'll definitely want to see it whenever it appears.
