When I was in the shower this morning, contemplating whether I should start writing in this thing or not, I didn't want to because I thought that I don't have interesting stories in my life. But maybe activating my LJ account has incited interesting experiences. Twenty minutes after I wrote my first entry, I had the weirdest experience I have had in a college class. You see, my german class is reading operas (fun!) We read one opera a week and have to listen to the music as well. This sucks because it's three hours of music and you have to sit in the music library (which is often packed) to listen to it. In class today, our Prof asked everyone who had listened to Tannhauser for today. Three out of eight of us raised our hands. Then, he asked who had listened to part of it. Two more raised their hands. So he told the last three that he really should send them out of class for today, kind of jokingly. I was thinking, "Why doesn't he give those of us who did the work a break instead?" But he was like, "Yea. Why don't you three just go? Just leave my class." They were humbled and left, but those who stayed were ticked off. It was so uncomfortable. I thought everyone was going to leave, or stay and not discuss at all. So my question is: Was that justified? He did apologize later and said that he just felt it was unfair for the rest of us to be held back in discussion. Also, should I have left? I didn't really disagree with him, but I thought it was an abuse of power. What would you have done?
