Pokémon Weekend

Jan 09, 2017 02:18

For the first time in a long time I'm actually blogging about something that happened in the past couple of days rather than weeks or years later!
I'm not going to lie this may also be a test of a new photo system...Anyway!

I'm playing Pokémon Moon at the moment and it has a feature called Pelago, which is like a fun island game for the Pokémon in your PC boxes. The Pokémon bank feature is not yet available for Sun & Moon, but I thought it would be a great idea to transfer over my old Pokémon from Pearl and the other old games I have, so I can transfer them when the time comes, plus in games like Omega Ruby or XY I can complete the Pokédex.

Pearl is the game I probably spent the most time playing, over 500 hours! It was the first and only Pokémon game I actually went to the effort of finishing the Pokédex too (apart from Arceus who I got later). I managed to breed a few shiny Pokémon in it, and created my team of Eevee evolutions which are apparently still good, because 10 years later I still win with them :D

Now, getting Pokémon from Pearl to the new games isn't that easy and you have to jump through several hoops to get it to happen.
I had already traded up Pokémon from my GameCube and Gameboy Advance games to Pearl because the Nintendo DS also had a GBA cart slot, meaning Muddy is the oldest Pokémon I can transfer. He is my starter Pokémon from Sapphire (2002), so he is over 14 years old!!! (My oldest would be Pikachu from Pokémon Yellow in 1998)

As I played a lot of Pearl, I used this game, Pokémon ranch to keep most of my Pokémon in.

OH GOD, I'm so sorry D: I abandoned my children.

Reunited with my 512 babies!
...Also my Mii is so old I still have hair.

So, to take these Pokémon to the new games I have to do the following:
Pokémon Ranch -> Pokémon Pearl -> Pokémon Black 2 -> Pokémon Transporter -> Pokémon Bank -> Pokémon X/Y & Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire -> Pokémon Sun/Moon

Which involves connecting my DS Lite to my Wii, DS to 3DS, 3DS to internet and swapping carts. Yeesh! Pearl to Black 2 is the slowest because you have to play a minigame and you can only transfer 6 at a time, so with 512 Pokémon that's over 80 times 😕

https://youtu.be/sl6V3zfrYwc here's someone with an annoying voice playing the minigame!
Now, you can tell this is why it took me all weekend, but I'm actually not done because I wrote all this out, hahaha.

The end result in Pokémon Bank. This means they can be sent to all of the modern games and help complete all of the Pokedexes 😀

I also did a Wii to Wii U data transfer now that my Pokémon were now safe, Pikmin helped me!

Please let me know if the pictures are working okay! Maybe they're too big?
