Ace Contest Ends Tomorrow

Thank you! I can tell some of you voted for Ace - I just can't tell whom, so whoever you were, thank you very much.

For those tuning in late, Ace is in a calendar contest for his rescue league. The problem is, the contest ends tomorrow, you have to pay for votes, and at least half of my flist is dead-broke right now, and as to the other half, I feel guilty asking you to support dog rescue when there are charities out there like breast cancer research and bone marrow donation that can save human life.

But if you're on PayPal and have a couple of bucks to spare, the site is picture #19, which is Ace in the snow. (You vote by listing your choices in the "comments" or "special instructions" section of the PayPal process - watch for it, it's just a link.) It looks like the League limits you to 50% of your votes for one dog, and then you must spread the others around. Or maybe not; you can try giving all to Ace and see if the League writes you back to make you divvy them up. They let Labyris give 100% of her votes to Ace, we think. The rules are ambiguous on whether the limit applies to owners voting for their own dogs, or everyone voting for any dog.

You get two votes per dollar, and to be strategic about this, don't give your non-Ace votes to any dog who already has more than 100. Your votes won't show up immediately because Fearless Leader has to do that manually at least once a day these next two days.

Ace doesn't need to come in first; he only needs to come in twelfth. Unfortunately, right now, he's only in the top fifteen or so, and needs help. So if you can afford it and feel like you want to, please do... and I have to thank you now, generally, because it's a secret ballot and I'll never know who donated and who didn't.

Meanwhile, while I spent my last Ace post lamenting the things he didn't get to do in his life, here's something he did achieve! After nearly a year of longing, whimpering at her balcony and sniffling through the fence, he and the neighbor dog, little blonde Marilyn Monroe, got together in person five days before he died and consummated their relationship with ecstatic kisses. I am so happy the neighbors brought her over that day!
