Ace Update and Icon: Feminst? Gay? What?

Feb 01, 2009 12:55

So, using my mundane name, I've been wandering around on Facebook, which I hate,* and I found this button in the "feminist" category.

I have no clue what it is supposed to represent. Anybody know? Purple for gay? Or black for domestic violence? or what?

LATE EDIT: Nevermind. It's anarcho-feminism. I'm not at all keen on anarchy myself. Women as a class and individually do really, really poorly under anarchy. Apparently anarcha-feminism is the preferred spelling, maybe because the "a" is perceived as a feminine ending ("feminine" meaning grammatically female, not, y'know, frilly). Hmmph. Not sure I agree with their appropriation of Wollstonecraft and Goldman, but not energized to research it. /EDIT

The cheerleading hamster icon, not terribly feminist at all, is because I'm going to watch the Super Bowl solo while my dearest Savant is up north with his family. He left about twenty minutes ago, which means, about two hours late... he'll still have plenty of time to party with them before the game, but coming home is going to be horrid. He has to leave the house at 7:45 tomorrow morning to make an 8 a.m. apartment appointment here.

Abu Felix was going to keep Ace and I company, but is feeling sick. Fortunately, it's so warm here today that soon I can let Ace out without an escort. Escorting him is dangerous for me, especially with no one home, so the thaw is a lucky development. He fell on the ice four times this week, poor baby, and didn't learn a thing from it.
