Nikon D80, 50mm (reversed), f16, 1.3, ISO100
It's really nice out... yet instead of going out in the sun (light is at a harsh angle/intensity though), I popped down a hoodie on the table, got an SD card holder under it as a prop, and set up for some macro shots of my and Amy's jewelery and such.
This is, I believe, the first ring I bought her, as a Christmas gift while I was in Halifax and she was still in Texas. She was pagan at the time, and I still had some pagan leanings myself, and we both had an interest in ancient Celt culture... and how does that tend to manifest?? That's right, knotwork!
Here's a shot, taken with my phone of the rather simple, available light, setup I've been using for my staged macro shots over the past week and a bit.
Using the 50mm in reverse, the focus adjust does virtually nothing, and the depth of field is pretty narrow. As a result, I have to gently push the whole tripod back and forth on the carpet and adjust framing as the angles change to get subjects in focus. It can be a little time consuming as each change in angle changes focus and framing :) At some point I'm going to get a focusing rail system, which will allow me to precisely move the camera back and forth along the rail mounted to the tripod; changing focal distance, but not the framing angle... and allow much better control than nudging the tripod legs and guessing where focus will be when it settles back down into the carpet.
One day ;)
