Still quite windy, and very changeable skies.

There's a train strike today, so I drove in - early to avoid the rush hour.
We were promised lots of spectacular windstorms, and we only had one - so far - monday morning : force nine with rain. It was about 110% humidity ouside my front door, and there were drips coming through my ceiling. I caught them in buckets and plastic bowls. I was determined not to drive in such conditions, and rang in to the office to say so. By 09:15 it was all over and there was even some sunshine. So I rang in again and said "j'arrive !". Having missed the morning trains I drove in, and traversing the forest I was surprised that I was no trees knocked over by the gale. A few branches in the road, but that's all. I was a little disappointed. Then they said the storms would be back. So far no sign of them.
:/
Monday morning's storm was pretty impressive, if short and sweet. It dumped a container ship on the beach in front of the hotels at Les Sables d'Olonde in Vendée, wrecked a few yachts at mooring here and there, blew walls over and smashed a few trees.
This may mark the end of winter over here, and we'll be putting the clocks forward any time now.
Work is going quite well, a little quiet as the editor of the yoga mag has lost his internet connection (due to winds). I seem to be up to date with everything else, so I have time to tap an update, and add some new and old pictures to
my flickr account.
In the evenings I'm playing, composing and finding my way around all the new softs I have on my new mac. Logic8 is a marvel. The new layout is very ergonomic, and the 'ultrabeat' plug is rather good, but I think I'll use it less than the Native Instruments "Battery" plug which has a super loop editor and seems to work like a mixture of Live! and the Akai MPC. I've discovered another HUGE virtual synth in Logic called 'Sculpture' which makes some of the biggest and most evolutive sounds I've ever heard. I'm not sure I'll use it much, but it's nice to have it there just in case.
Another (good) news is that the Tascam USB soundcard I bought through ebay (€80) arrived and works fine. It's a bit more detailed than the emagic card I use already, having XLR inputs with preamps, phantom power and other bits. It sounds fine and will give me 12 inputs if I use the 2 cards at the same time.
Now I'll make a cup of tea and get back to work.
Work ? What work ? (Mathieu should be getting his internet back this morning...)
