1. The d00d at the Mac Genius station who FIXED MY COMPUTER OMFG.
So in a long-winded sort of way, this is my way of saying that after a night of stressing out, my computer is all right. Basically what happened is the power surge and/or heat ended up fucking with my poor computer's guts -- I'm guessing it was probably the former, but there was a combination of both that resulted in the ultimate outcome. I won't bore you with details, but to make a long story short...I did fry my hard drive. But only one of them. And the one that got fried was the backup drive that was basically an excuse for me to have an extra OS in case something should go wrong or I wanted to upgrade my OS without losing all my data when I did an erase and install. So I'm down about 60 gigs of space, but the only thing I lost was a backup copy of the operating system and whatever applications I had installed on there. *breathes a huge fucking sigh of relief* As a certain boy likes to say, I am a luckybitch.
Thank you so much to all the people who wished me well and were consoling last night. I very very much appreciate it.
Needless to say I will be much more careful in future, especially with this omgRIDICULOUS heatwave -- I prolly will only have my desktop on when I'm using it, and need to invest in another hard drive for backup purposes -- possibly an external firewire drive. More flexible that way, and all. In any case, I shan't bore you all to death, but just...yay. :)
Now I'm going to go veg out again because my brain is absolutely fried. I can feel it dribbling out my ears. Cheers, all.
