*DANCES*
IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE!!!
1. I think I'm finally sort of starting to get the hang of German! It's kind of discouraging that it's taken me so long, because French and Spanish (and the little bit of Italian and Latin I did) came pretty quickly, but it's a nice start at least! So YAYE, even if it does take me like 40 minutes to translate one page! (Stupid syntax.)
2. I've started bellydancing! It's really very fun, especially because the sort I'm doing is fusion with jazz dance, which I ABSOLUTELY adore, so YAYE for that! (And OMFG my calves hurt! *snerk*)
3. HOLY CHRIST. This is like...the best thing EVER. I've been keeping in touch with my profs, sort of, over the summer, and I'm meeting one of them on Monday to discuss a paper I wrote for her this last term on Wagner and Lord of the Rings, which ought to be really interesting -- it's so heartening to know I've written something that made THEM want to seek ME out, you know? I feel useful! BUT! Even better! The paper I wrote for my Ethno class was on the credit songs in the Lord of the Rings movies, and the professor for that class says that...well, I'll quote.
An impressive paper, well-argued and written. I am amazed you did this without a score! I think if you wish, this could be the beginning of a much larger project. Conversely, this can stand on its own, and with some rearranging, transcriptions of motifs, & thorough examination by a music theorist (not just an ethnomusicologist), you might want to consider developing it into an article -- at the very least into a major conference paper. This is exciting, original work in a neglected area.
And that right there? Is basically confirmation of my intended research/dissertation path. A lot of people wait three, four years to hear that their hopes for their dissertation will pan out. DO YOU KNOW HOW EXCITED THIS MAKES ME??? I think I might just die of glee.
4. And...last thing! Thank you ALL for all the lovely comments on my post with the singing and stuff! *blushes enormously and hides behind her hair* I had so many requests for more, I debated uploading some of the other stuff that I've been messing around with the past couple days. HOWEVER, emcue and rosie_red73 both requested something in which I didn't drown myself in accompaniment. And because you all asked so nicely, after running this by petulantgod, who seemed to think it was worth sharing, I thought I'd give you something a bit different.

I think that's it from me for now. APOLOGIES at the lack of fandom material as of late -- but then, that's kind of how my life is these days: largely fandomless. HOWEVER, so this post isn't COMPLETELY bare of fandom stuffs...if you hadn't heard, after some extensive soul-searching and such, marksykins and I have both left the_leaky. Neither of us had the time or the energy for it anymore, really, and while we loved all the unrulyhair/dragonbreath_ (OMG OTP 4EVA!) deliciousness, it was just...time. And it was a really tough decision for me to make. I had great great fun with all the amazingly talented players, and will especially miss all the fun I had (and was planning to have in future) with rumronrum, lateblooming, epicene_blaise, and nottanaddict. However, the H/D lurve lives on.
