Storms are no fun sometimes.
So, we woke up yesterday morning to a GIANT tree fallen on the house. It was on the main power lines going from the road to the house. No big deal I thought - call Huntsville Utilities, reported the tree down, they'll come take care of everything - right? No no, "nothing can be that easy" the Universe said, "you must have challenge!"
Huntsville Utilities no longer cuts down trees for you, they said they got sued too many times and so now what they do is kill the power to the house for safety, then you have to pay to have a tree service come and remove then tree, then Utilities will come back and cut the power on. Ok, so we did that. Power was off most of my work day, I was worried about the stuff in my fridge! But by the time I got home at 3, the tree was gone and the tree service was leaving. Huntsville Utilities showed up about an hour later, looked at the meter box, and declared that they would not turn on the power because the meter was damaged. I was like - uh, isn't that something ya'll are suppose to fix?? Oh noooo, we just READ the meter (and happily charge you) we don't INSTALL the meter... you need to call an electrician, have him replace the meter and the cables, then call a Utility inspector, and once the inspection passes THEN we can turn your power back on. At least everything over our deductible is covered... unfortunately our deductible is 500 bucks. Ugh. So I figured we were not going to have any power all night, so I packed up everything from the freezer and fridge and hauled off to my folks place.
Spent the night there last night, its hard to sleep there cus the bed is not that comfy. Talon woke up extremely early, I'm not sure why, maybe cus it was not a familiar place - but I thought I could get him back to sleep. Then he had a giant poo that got all over his footie-pajamas, so I had to turn on lights and get out wipes and blah blah so we were pretty much up at that point. No going back after the light comes on and the cold wipes go on the booty!
So I'm exhausted today, bad nights sleep, way to early rising... at least its humpday! 2 more days until I can pick up our family portraits!!! YAY!
