As a fan of figure Ice-skating, I have to say I am quite miffed by the latest news...All in all not a good period at all:

1. A couple of week ago, I found out that the reigning World Champion, Canadian Jeff Buttle (whom I adore, incidentally), is retiring from competitive skating, due to lack of motivation, it seems...BAD!

2. Last week, I then found out that Alexei Yagudin, Russian 2002 Olympic Champion (whom I also like a lot!!), isn't coming back to competitions and won't be part of 2010 Winter Olympic Games. It seems that his replaced right hip is still bothering him to some extent. An appendixectomy some months ago did not help the process...Let's talk about rotten luck, here, Yags! VERY BAD!!

3. Three days ago, as a final stroke, I also found out that Swiss Stéphane Lambiel (do I really need to say how much I like him???), aged 23, is also retiring from competitive skating, due to some muscular problems, which do not allow him to be 100%, as he expects to be anytime he is on the ice. VERY, VERY BAD!

On the plus side, it seems that Plushenko, who has not competed in the last two seasons, will INDEED come back...but I am so not going to believe it until I see him jump and spin on COMPETITIVE ice!!

Let's just hope that my other fav skaters will stay around some more!! Selecting a new set of favourites is draining!! lol
