this weekend i did mainly 3 things, no make that 4.
1) saw the lion, the witch, and the wardrobe. it was fine i guess, but having just read the book over thanksgiving for the first time there were a few things that annoyed me to the point of frustration. the main one was that the second time lucy enters Narnia, she WAS looking for it, which makes the whole premise of not being able to find it if you are looking for it totally untrue and stupid. also, i generally dislike talking animals, and this time was no different. plus they were mean to eddie the whole time, especially peter who is a typical condesceding older sibling, so i found myself rooting that something drastic happen so edward could take the throne alone. perhaps i just have sympathies for middle children. i may have liked the movie more (not that i disliked it) if i had read the book awhile ago, when i was younger and didnt get annoyed by stupid incosistencies.
2) went to an expensive dinner with ruchir and one of his beta friends, who brought along a friend of his own as well. the friend's name was yuri, ad he was from russia and he wore a blue sweater that curiously had a tag that said moscos pinned to the sleeve. i couldnt tell whether it was supposed to be some sort of russian pride statement, or if it was just some annoyingly trendy thing that clothing companies do, like print random words in chinese on shirts. this is not actually that related because this is in a language that everyone there can read, but it reminds me of when i was in mexico and there were many girls wearing plain black tshirts with white writing that said some very explicit and obscene things. they were mostly written in spanish, but a few were in english. for example one said (in espagnol) "do you want to touch my breasts?", another said (in english) "i love oral sex" and a third said (in espagnol) "looking for a father for my baby". we got the latter for christina and later we found out that it actually said "looking for a pope for my baby". anyway, that was a huge sidetrack. the restaurant was called arthur clay's and it was in maplewood, on manchester, next to schlafly bottleworks. the food was delcious, but expensive, but actually almost so good that it was worth it. (and even more worth it because i didnt pay). i first got a strawberry martini, and i unfortunately forgot the part that gave strawberry flavor but it had chocolate vodka and a little heavy cream. it tasted like a delcious strawberry milkshake. for my entree, i got yellowfin tuna, seared and served rare, with sauteed eggplant and onions in a pernod scented lobster bisque sauce. im not much of a sushi or raw fish fan, or so i thought, until i tasted that smooth delectable yellowfin. plus the onions eggplant mixture was exactly as if i had dreamed it, and combined, the whole thing was just amazing. for dessert we had lavender flavored creme brulee, which again, although i thought i didnt likre creme brulee, i fully enjoyed. the place was that great, not very big, and not the best atmosphere. it was a little loud, drafty, and cramped, but also clean and very white. there was an extremely drunk table near us, who were clutching wine bottles and dropping glasses, so that kept things interested. anyway, the point was that the food was great, and so far i agree with the RFT rating of "best restaurant when someone else pays"
3) studied for my 5 finals this week
4)wasted lots of time while pretending to study for my five finals
if you are wondering why i chose now to make longest update in approx a year, it is of course because i have 5 finals this week (well, 4 now!) and i love wasting time.
also i seriously cannot stop checking to see if konfabularor has any new cool widgets or if firefox has any new extensions. and no, im not even a tech nerd.
ok, now to read some yahoo odd news, and then perhaps the studying will commence.
