- so last thursday night, my strength finally gave way. If I have ever mentioned I was tired before, it should be measured against this. I wandered the wards needing support from the bannisters. I couldn't even squeeze lemons for the residents. It was a completely amazing and scary feeling.
This, my dears, is clinical fatigue.
A visit to the doctor's meant that he has now offered a suggestion to the insurance company to cut my hours down to 20 hours a week. They will still need to pay me the balance, HAH! That's the silver lining in this whole thing. It's a bummer, I love working my ass off, but I can't afford to collapse and make things worse right when I got into my ENs.
- Aldi's having a sale on cast iron pans and dutch oven! about $90 and I get cast iron pan, a french pan, a griddle and a dutch oven! <3
- Filed in my tax returns. taking this $12,000 p/a pay cut to do what I want to do has finally taken it's toil for real. The difference of my tax returns this year is $1000. hehe. I will live.
- Reading: nothing at the moment. Still grieving over the loss of a main character in the Black Magician Trilogy. I did buy a real new book though, "
The Best Australian Political Writing 2009" - it consists of the Stolen Generation Apology speech by Rudd. am also looking forward to getting this book:
This Time is Different- an economics book of sorts.
- hat tip to
cutelildrow :
Julia Gillard is sending refugees back, with some agreements with Afghanistan about guaranteeing the safety of these refugees. As she has mentioned, I hope it is not just a front to gain votes with voters who are against the refugees. At the same time, I think they need to work more on their processing methods rather than just sending them home. It doesn't solve the problem entirely. There needs to be better means testing too.

it looks like the property market is getting slightly better in Canberra for first time buyers. When I first came, Canberra's housing was in the 200k-400k region. These days, buying in the same area could mean upwards of a million. This is absolutely insane. with these new housing, barely enough I say, thankfully new houses are still within the affordable rate. But I wonder, for how long? MacGregor suburb was selling at $300-$400k just before Forde's insane release of $200k.

I find this an interesting read for various reasons: it is true many of us goes true "racist" conditioning while growing up. be it the "let's fight for blacks' rights", to the "chinese is the superior race" (that came from my father HAHAAHAHAHAHA), it's very subtle how it is permeated into our thinking and everyday life. What is also interesting is when he thought about how when people link Islam with Terrorism, they never pointed out the invasion of other countries "for democracy" is also an equation of Terrorism.
- I am a little late on this and still catching up on it:
McChrystal's original Rolling Stones article,
Truthout's take on it,
the beginning of the end,
more of that ending and finally
the wiki on him. Yes, these are just links for me to catch up on my reading about what happened. You're all welcome to list your opinions.
- yet another TBR article on the "
politicization of the high courts".
- and woot! happy 4th of July (I know it's ending on your side of the world but geez, I am allowed to be late!). Here's
my favourite article for this year's 4th!.
