Haha... That so? [The lighthearted laugh was kind of masking the slight annoyance in his voice. It was still evident if she listened.] Then she might have forgotten since her first instinct was to run straight to Lazarevic when he first got here. Alone.
She didn't get killed because I managed to hear the door slam and ran after her. Look, I know Elena can hold her own and I want to take down that sonofabitch too, but charging in the way she did? I don't get it. [He's all hand waving and getting pretty animated while talking into the communicator. Little bit of pent up issues? You bet.] One minute she's ecstatic that I'm back then the next she's pulling crazy stunts.
Or pushing me away completely. [Barely audible.]
[He opens his mouth as if to continue, but merely sighs and just shakes his head.]
She really hates that guy, Nate. It could be a lot of things. Pent up frustration for what happened to her, irritation, anger - she nearly died. Hell she thinks she died, it might be messing with her whole "good in the world" idea from before. [She sighs a bit.] Look, Nate she missed you, a lot. I wouldn't take it too personally.
Yeah, sure she did. [Bitter much? Probably just cranky with all the recent shit and Elena seemingly trying to kill herself wasn't helping.]
Just...hopefully she's got it out of her system now. Lazarevic would rather kill her than me because he knows that would cause more damage. Least she didn't charge after Flynn.
I know I've not been too good on my word before, but will you just trust me?
We need to keep away from them. I'll... I don't know. I could talk to her if it would make you feel better. [Though what else could she say that Nate couldn't was really the hard thing.] Good thing she didn't go after Harry. ...who knows what would have happened.
[He won't say that there has been a lot of bickering between them lately and that's why he's less inclined to believe you. Sure there were reasons and excuses, but it was just getting worse.]
I believe people miss things they don't have around. That's probably what you were reading into.
I just...have a hunch that anything I say to her isn't going to be taken seriously. I blew it. But if you want to take a shot at it then go ahead; good luck. She's really stubborn as hell, but I don't want her getting killed.
And honestly? She probably would have kicked Flynn's ass.
Something I was reading into? [She sounds a little irritated.]
Listen to me, Nate, you didn't blow anything. Stop acting like a drama queen and take a breather. Sunshine isn't the kind of women who is going to just jump into your arms. You know that. Just keep an eye on her. Protect her all right?
I know, I know. And I'm not pissing and moaning for the hell of it, all right? I legitimately screwed up. I'm not seeking out some damn pity party for something I'm making up. Look, just forget I said anything. Have some girl talk with her and I'll continue to keep an eye on her. That's really all that can be done.
[As for Flynn, well, Drake kind of wanted to find the stupid asshole first and it wasn't to kill him. Ass kicking would be inevitable, but still not the reason.]
What the bloody hell did you do, Nate?! There is no way you screwed up that badly. [She pauses to think abut it.] I can't even think of what the hell you did to apparently "screw up" that badly.
[There is some silence on his end. In all honesty the fault couldn't be pegged solely on him or Elena, but he could have tried harder. He could have been the stronger person. The other thing that resulted recently was just his bad luck biting him in the ass.

Yep. Heading up now.
[He had been pacing in the hall during the whole conversation so he just went ahead and made his way up to her room. By time he got to the door he wondered if this was a good idea at all, but being that he never thought ahead all that much he knocked and decided to take his chances.]
[She glances to the door, before she walks over and opens it for him.] Nate... [She gives him a small smile.] Come on. My room so I can finish packing. We'll talk there.
And what resolution might that be?

Yeah, or worse. He does kind of deserve it.
