Rest in Peace Mémé
She had another stroke this morning. She told my Aunt that she lost the will to live before she died. Really sad. Makes me wonder what it takes before a person can actually say that and let themseleves die.
My aunt Di called because my estranged grandparents would never call their son, even to tell them their grandmother just died. Unbelievable.
We're driving two hours on Thursday for the wake, driving back the two hours to CT Thursday night, then driving the two hours back to Rhode Island for the funeral, and then driving the two hours back home again. Nothing makes sense.
I keep thinking about the last time I saw her. And our conversation.
"Aaron, where's that girlfriend of yours?" - Memé

"Oh...I thought you were going to marry that girl." - Memé

"...and I was hoping to be alive for your wedding..." - Memé
That's so sad. She was 99, but I actually thought she could pull through for a few more years and she might have been alive for my wedding.
