But seriously, I'm always bizarrely happy on this date--and such is this post! I like this anniversary because it's the day every year that everyone remembers Buddy Holly and his profound awesomeness.
It seems extraordinary that Buddy is vaguely forgotten in the oldie canon, when his
influence is so wide-ranging and significant. Bob Dylan! Bruce Springsteen! Come on!

One of my proudest moments of youth was in 6th grade. We were allowed to listen to CDs during our free work time, and my enthusiasm had so rubbed off on my classmates that they requested my Greatest Hits collection of their own free will. Stupid, I know, but it's stuck with me. :)
