Lament is one of those emotions that enlightens the mind to the depth of the human experience.
I'm sure that if a root grows this deep, then a trunk must grow as high; to steal from Nietzsche.
However, I have no such experience with that particular magnitude of satisfaction.
I doubt many do.

The cold truth of our existence is that it is far simpler for a system to collapse than sustain.
Sustenance requires a constant investment of energy; an inexorable hunger for effort and love.
My heart is not so giving, nor so forgiving; still, I grieve.
I grieve the dead to whom no apologies can be made.
I grieve the living to whom no apologies will be made.

Though I awake to a cold bed, I am not alone.
I have my lament to keep my company, and the hate born of it to keep my strength.
