cover art Tarkan - Herşeye Ragmen
Turkey -> Egypt
Kaç bin yıllık bir kıyımdır bu?
Nasıl direniyor insan hala?
Gerçekten ümit var mı?
Ah bunca günahla?
Bari sen bırakma ellerimi
Bari sen yapma
Şimdi her zamandan
Daha fazla sarılmalıyız aşka
What a thousand-year-long massacre is this?
How can one stand up with it?
Is there really hope,
With all these sins?
Don't you leave my hands at least,
Don't you do it at least.
We should embrace love
more than any time now.
Turkey may have been made for war, to the extent that the lust for conquer makes his bones shiver, but there has been too many a night where the sight of carnage on his fingers has kept sleep far. It's those nights, when the bed feels too cold and his heart too hollow, that the only thing he needs is a touch.
Guster - Do You Love Me
Turkey -> Egypt
I wanna wake you from your dream,
I wanna know just who you're talking to when your singin' in your sleep
I wanna find out what it means
Do you love me?
Egypt's touches are always gentle, despite his frying hot desert skin; it's not long until Turkey decides that Egypt will be the one he calls upon on the darkest of nights. But as kind as the touches are, they betray nothing. Egypt betrays nothing; always tight lipped, always just out of reach. Soon it becomes that all Turkey wants to know is if his bed partner has any feelings at all.
Imogen Heap - Half Life
Egypt -> Turkey
My self-worth measured in text back tempo,
It's been 2 days and 8 minutes too slow.
Well there may well be others,
But I still like to pretend,
That I'm the one you really want to grow old with.
Turkey is always with others. As a member of the household it is hard for Egypt to miss all the small touches he shares with them; Greece, Hungary, everyone. And it's not hard for him to become jealous; he had been under the impression that, because he was Turkey's, Turkey might be his, too. And, though it did not seem like that was ever going to be the case, well, Egypt was not too proud to pretend it might happen one day.
Colbie Caillat - Stay With Me
Egypt <-> Turkey
I love the time we spend like a watch from an old friend.
I will help you keep your smile,
Promise me you'll stay awhile.
The papers had been signed, the plans finalized. The next morning, England was going to to be at the door of the Ottoman household, and when he left Egypt was going, too. Sharing a bed that suddenly felt very big, both men's chests were heavy with the knowledge that they might not share a bed ever again. They both spent the night pretending to sleep, but were instead searching for the words that would make their parting any easier. But since neither truly understood why it was so hard at all, the words were not to be found that night.
Avril Lavigne - When You’re Gone
Turkey -> Egypt
I've never felt this way before.
Everything that I do reminds me of you.
And the clothes you left, they lie on the floor,
And they smell just like you; I love the things that you do.
It was the keffiyah forgotten in Egypt's wardrobe. It took Turkey weeks to find it, mostly because he never made it a habit of entering vacant bedrooms. But when he did happen upon it, cleaning his home for lack of anything better to do (peace always left him itching). His fingers froze on the fabric, and he remembered ripping it off the other's head so many a time... it all felt like such a distant memory, now.
Unable to leave it, Turkey tucked it in his pocket and walked out of the room.
Haert - Alone
Egypt -> Turkey
You don't know how long I have wanted,
To touch your lips and hold you tight, oh.
You don't know how long I have waited,
And I was going to tell you tonight.
But the secret is still my own,
And my love for you is still unknown,
Alone.
The first time Egypt saw Turkey after he became British was frustrating. Because there the other was, so close, but he was talking and laughing with Austria and Hungary and Germany, and Egypt realized it would be rude to interrupt. Sitting and watching, he wondered why it bothered him this much to see his former colonizer being so happy. Without letting Turkey see him, Egypt got up and walked away.
Tarkan - Simarik
Turkey -> Egypt
Belki de bu yüzden vuruldum
Sahibin olamadim ya
Sigar mi erkeklige seni simarik
Degisti mi bu dünya
Maybe that's why I've been ensnared by her,
Because I don't own her.
Can my masculinity accept you spoiled thing?
Has the world turned upside down?
The first time Turkey saw Egypt, it was a break during a meeting. Egypt was with Greece, a tiny smile there on his features as he lazily popped a grape into his mouth. They weren't saying much, but Turkey knew them both enough to know they were enjoying each other's company; the mere thought frustrated him.
He stepped up to their table and snapped at Greece. A fight brewed, and when Turkey looked up again Egypt was gone.
Amr Diab - Ya Nasy Wa3dak
Egypt -> Turkey
غبت ليه عني
من غير ما تسالني
هو انت مش عارف
انك بتوحشني
Why did you leave me,
Without asking me?
Don’t you know
That I miss you?
Turkey still regularly fought with Greece. Every time they met, one of them would go up to the other, or make a rude comment, or even just sneeze and suddenly they were at it again. Egypt was the most frequent bystander, and typically grew the most bored of seeing it time and time again, but it wasn't just boredom that always had him walking away.
Frustrated with Turkey with seemingly have forgotten him, Egypt was loathed to admit even to himself that he might have been jealous, for Turkey keeping up on dysfunctional relationship over another
Imogen Heap - Swoon
Turkey -> Egypt
Oh well I know you know you do.
And maybe you've not said so many words.
You've always got your reasons,
You right little know it all.
It was an instant. Turkey saw the way Egypt was looking at him from the corner of his eye, with something smoldering just beneath the other's blank facade. It made a shiver run down Turkey's spine to know he was being looked at so fiercely, so... protectively. So wanted....
It took a minute for Turkey to realize his heart had stopped, and to realize he had probably wanted Egypt all along.
It took him more than a week to realize that look probably meant Egypt wanted him, too.
Amr Diab - Odam 3eyounak
Egypt -> Turkey
من يوم ماشفتك بعيني مشغول ياعيني دايماً كدة
من نظرة حبيتك انت ازاي وامتي كان كل ده
Since the day I laid eyes on you, I’ve constantly been distracted by yours
I’ve loved you from first sight, how and when did all of this happen?
Turkey walked up to Egypt after the meeting had ended. His hazel eyes were a little sheepish, but still a lit with all the passion that had ever been there.
You would like to eat dinner with me tonight?
All Egypt could think was, 'it's about damn time'.
Thriving Ivory - Some Kind of Home
Turkey -> Egypt
You don’t say much.
You'll take any more than you'll have to.
Have you lost touch,
With the ones you adore and sought after?
And you don't know why,
Yeah, they put a bullet through your heart,
And told you not to cry.
You know life should be beautiful,
So come on out the shadows for while.
They tumbled into bed together. Clothes came off painfully slowly, then lightening fast, and when both their masks were lain aside for the night, Turkey and Egypt were finally home.

A/N: Full lyrics and translations of the foreign songs in the comments. I translated the Arabic songs (Amr Diab) myself, but for the Turkish songs (Tarkan), they came from
http://lyricstranslate.com/. If anyone here speaks/knows Turkish and is willing to help me correct them (they seem awkwardly translated), I would greatly appreciate it.
I am just proud of myself for turning one of the series' most manly, badass character into a whimpering little girl in love. I apologize for the amount of angst, and I hope the story makes sense in context of the songs (or vice-versa). Most of all, I hope you all enjoy it! ♥
