So we were heading off to bed last night, and Aaron asked where the cat was. So I stuck my head out the door and tried calling her name out. I heard a distant meow, but because it was pitch black I couldn't tell where it was coming from. Little did I know what I had just nearly avoided stepping on (barefoot) on my way to turn on the hallway light.
The lights went on, and as I looked around I saw a small gray fuzzy thing on the floor. I had put my glasses away, so I had to squint and approach it cautiously. "Um, Aaron?" It was a dead bird, lying in neat symmetrical fashion perpendicular to our doorway where we would see it (our door is arranged all wonky so that we don't really step straight out... nevermind)
It was gross and definitely dead. Not rotting or smelly, and Aaron identified that it had died from a bite to the neck. It was just kinda weird, since Kera is a really wussy indoor house cat. Eh.
