[Closing her mouth on the retort, Scarlet rolls her eyes.]
Joy abounds. [With a sudden, cheerful little grin, she reaches behind her pencil holder and withdraws a glock 19, snapping open the chamber to check that it's loaded, then snapping it shut and pushing out of her chair with an easy little twist of her hips.]
It's so nice to see you two getting along. [She offers Rufus a dreamy, vacant little smile and bats her eyes, even as she plants one foot on her chair, hikes up her dress and straps a holster to her upper thigh.] Daddy must have negotiated you a fine dowry. Couple of goats and a wind turbine? Maybe a psychotic super-soldier on the side? [Slipping the gun in the holster, murmuring something about feeling naked, she takes her foot off the chair, and whirls toward the door. She blinks at Rufus innocently.]

[He simply watches her, looking thoroughly unimpressed by her words or actions. He mutters a dryly joking response, resisting the urge to roll his eyes.]
Goats, how old-fashioned.
[As she approaches the door, he gestures down the hallway with one hand, as if to say after you. The two of them then make their way to where Reeve is waiting. He greets the other man with a nod.]
You seem to be feeling better.
[The comment is a polite one, though largely devoid of any particular sentiment.]

[He has waited, unable to move without stabs of pain, but as Rufus and Scarlet enter, he tips his head back slightly so that he has sight of them, blurry as it may be, and pauses after Rufus speaks for a silent moment]

[It is not a dismissal, but as his eyes catch sight of Scarlet as well as Rufus, they narrow slightly. Hojo is working for Shinra once more, has been by his side for days, and all that is offered such pleasantries. Well, he can certainly abide by such expectations.
When he speaks his normally steady baritone however is punctuated by an underlying wheezing whine that he cannot, so does not, hide]
You are both here... good. There probably isn't much time.
Scarlet.
[He coughs here, tipping his head to the side and bringing his hand to the side of his face positioned away from their vantage, he wipes saliva and blood away from his chin. Returning a look steadily he continues]
...The weapon trial...
[swallowing thickly, his throat clenches. All he can manage after that for the time is:]
Scarlet is here, yes. I assume you want to talk to her as well?

[He almost leaves it at that, but adds as an afterthought,]
Before you attempt to protest, he says he has something to discuss about your current project.
