I personally don't mind the ghostwritten books. Of course, most of them I've only read once and that was before I even knew that they were ghostwritten . . .
I don't see the fuss either. They're not that great, I noticed they got a little tiresome when I read them (before I knew they were ghostwritten), but they're not terrible, imo.
I don't mind most of them, either! Except the Rachel v. Dave one is like a bad fever dream. No matter how many times I read it. I honest to god still don't understand what happens in that book.
I also think the not!Atlantis one reaaally misses the target on the series' overall anti-war messages, which bothers me, and I take issue with the characterization in a couple other books... but IIRC Starfish!Rachel was a ghostwritten book, and that one is hilarious, so.
Yeah, I don't really have an issue with the ghostwritten books, a few of them aside. Honestly even some of the KA books are pretty bad. (#24 hurr hurr)
I think the only thing I really have a problem with is the Ax books. None of the ghosts captured his voice successfully. Can't blame them, though; he's an oddball for sure.
My only real problem with the ghostwritten books is when something is totally non-cannon. I can't recall any particular examples at the moment but I know there were a few that made me go 'WTF?! That can't happen!'
