sylverlining's review of Know The Secret reminded me that I a few years ago I started playing through the Animorphs Game Boy Colour game and taking notes. I didn't actually get past the first mission, but I got far enough to see what it was like. And use ellipses as punctuation far too much ( Read more... )

She's the sprite standing in front of Tobias's dialogue in the screenshot of the barn. I know it's supposed to be hair, but to my 2006 self, it looked a lot more like a headdress.

Confirmed, this is awesome. The adventure! The plot! The dialogue! The clear pokemon-cloniness (it's a word now)!

Now I'm fighting a goat outside the barn. I still don't get why I have to fight it.

I killed it. The morphing music is getting really creepy.

Dead. I am dead.

I also appreciate that you kept the formatting of the dialogue, because it's only half as clunky and hilarious without it. (That is still pretty funny, though.)

I wish I'd been more consistent about the dialogue formatting, but thanks!

Oh god, this brings back memories. This game really was terrible. I can't believe I managed to play through the whole thing.

I never understood how dogs could kick. I seem to remember there being some rather silly stuff like this later on too (ie. dolphins using "punch" and stuff)

That's definitely the abandoned construction site. IIRC there's a mission later that involves it.

I remember later in the game, for Marco's mission, you play a version of #15. You fight Leerans and Taxxons and it's HARD AS FUCK. The only reason I ever passed it was because the game glitched and when I tried to morph a mouse or something, I ended up as an awesome Taxxon that 1-hit KO'd EVERYTHING.

THANKS FOR CALMING MY SNAKE. I FEEL SO RELIEVED!

I bet some programmer had a little giggle over that snake line.

Dogs could probably kick if they turned around and flung their legs out blindly. An extremely viable battle tactic, I'm sure.

Fun fact- you don't need to restart the game after a morph dies. You just go back to where you initially fought it and fight it again; the dog is somewhere behind the barn, I think.
God that was a screwed up pet shop. x__x

...I do desperately want to learn programming so a basic-level, semi-decent Animorphs game can exist. (If anyone knows programming, I can sprite, damn it.)

Oh, really? I wonder why I didn't think of that the first time I played through. Thanks!

I know programming, and if I didn't have a billion other projects I would totally try that.

I think I still have this game in my bag o' Gameboy games. Runnyfun used to make me laugh every time I thought of it!
