I actually am one of the people who liked this book. The inner struggle between hawk and human was nicely done. If Tobias ever originally thought that becoming a nothlit was an escape from all his problems, he learned that it came with it's own set of problems. Though it was slightly disturbing to hear a human talking about being attracted to a female hawk; I had to keep reminding myself that Tobias is both a hawk and a human. Sorry, Rachel, I agree with Tobias on that one.
As for the plot, I was kind of bummed. Big supply truck thing comes to Earth, truck bad, boom! Destroy truck. Okay, so it was more than that. They nearly died.
"You didn't have to Tobias, I knew."
I can't complain about the above.
I don't suppose it was that funny, but Tobias being conveniently perched on the ship where they couldn't shoot him got a giggle out of me. I also like the predator/prey analogie going through is mind in respect to himself and Visser Three.
