I tried to get this sort of ball rolling a while back. I'm a little bitter that it didn't, but I'm very glad it's finally happening.
Perhaps we could alternate who does the quote of the day so there's not too much pressure on any one person's memory.
Anyway:

Jake: Do you have a topic?
Marco (indignant): Do I have a topic? How dare you insult my academic integrity in this manner! I've written four pages!
Jake: So... do you have a topic?
Marco: A topic will emerge. It will reveal itself to me. A topic will rise from these pages. I just have to keep writing.
Later...
Marco: Topic... the Use of Total Bull in Writing English Papers.
Later still...
Jake: Topic.: the Use of Rhetoric to Obscure a Lack of Content.
Marco: That's brilliant! It means the same thing as "the Use of Total Bull..." but it sounds so much better!
