UGH my dad is so picky!! lemme vent for a second.
so neither Matt nor I are really committed to taking his name when we marry. He has pretty much no relationship with his father or his father's side of the family, and his mom remarried so she has a different name too. So why pass it on? So we thought, hell, maybe he could take MY name. But my dad, being super traditional, doesn't like that. The man doesn't take the woman's name! Matt isn't a "Travis"! my sister doesn't like that, either. Travises are MANLY men, lumberjack types, and Matt's a sissy girly SCIENTIST who will probably have sissy gay children. FFFFF
so we thought, okay, maybe we'll start our OWN tradition and pick a NEW name. Maybe Snow. I brought that up with Dad. WHAT YOU CAN'T DO THAT, you have to stay "Travis", or I will be very disappointed!! Dad, I'm a GIRL, chances were I never WAS going to stick with "Travis" because its my MAIDEN name. Maybe I'll change it, maybe not, but you can't be "disappointed" if I change my name when I get married. You don't want me to be a Wirwahn, you don't want him to be a Travis, you don't want us to be something else. There doesn't seem to be any reasoning with him. And I know I could just ignore him and do what I want because its my life and not his but we're a very close family and it takes him a long time to forgive shit so I don't really want to make a decision that will annoy him. UGHHH I can't believe this is the hardest part of the wedding. TWO WEEKS AWAY and we don't know what name I'll have.
