I think there are two big reasons why I haven't started the Candyland comic, despite loving the idea and wanting to draw it. (Well, three reasons- grad school being one.)
One is, since starting what is already on paper, I've begun taking more art classes, and now officially hate what I've already drawn, but don't have the energy to start over.
Two, I got stuck like RIGHT AWAY. I seriously don't know what to have happen that could be interesting and compelling, much needed in a comic's first chapter.
I think the only solution to this is to actually throw away the pages I've done and start over. Maybe this time I'll actually WRITE an intro. I have it all figured out once they get to Candyland, but the shit that comes before that, like who they are and why they go there, is not very well plotted. That just is so much work because I have no idea what to write.
ALSO. I had this idea to do a "Wizard of Oz" thing where the residents of Candyland resemble people they know in the real world. This is neat I guess, but serves no real purpose, and not all the characters could be introduced before unless I made a long-ass intro, it would have to be "OMG you look like my teacher whom we haven't seen in the story!". Also if I don't do this, it also sort of eliminates the need for the character of Sully's best friend, who serves as a love interest for Wendy and resembles a Candyland resident, causing some conflict, but is otherwise useless to the story.
CONFLICTEDDDDDD.
