I'm aiming for around New Year's...with a fall-back time of June-ish.

I was really hoping for a cheap ticket (or free), but it looks like I'll just have to save my pennies.

Speaking of Japan...how many days a week do you get off? Because I'd really like to hang out with you when I come to visit! :)

i think it depends on your shift..but no vacations for the first 6mo. You are working for Nova, right? Check with Zuni.. she'd know more. I've heard of ppl who swap shifts (technically not legal but ppl do it all the time) and take 2 weeks off every 6 weeks or something like that.

I didn't end up working for Nova, so I still live in the USA. I was just hoping to come for a visit around New Year's, but it looks like plane tickets are just too expensive.

Yeah, I tried JTB. The cheapest ticket I could find (taxes and fees included) is $980!

*yikes!*

humm. JTB is last place i'd go to look for decent tickets.

try: sidestep.com travelocity.com chepatickets.com, orbitz.com hotwire.com, and priceline.com

japan sites: HIS (discount travel company, subsidiary of JTB-think banana republic vs. old navy), ab road (only in japanese have listing of some good suff). and depending on when you are flying, $980 for all-inclusive isn't all that bad. really.
