Summary - Yixing is new to this group. The people are either dysfunctional or have boundary issues and maybe even downright crazy. But over time, they have become the ones he can't live without.
Part 1 - In which, Yixing learns that yelling down rooftops definitely does not work the same way it does in dramas.

Yixing looks up from his green tea frappucino, just in time to see Kira and Sehun enter the cafe. His eyebrows rise as he notices that Kira is on his back and not next to him like she usually is. Their laughter reaches them even through the heavy buzz of chatter coming in from all directions. “It’s normal for them” Kyungsoo tells him. Yixing nods, simply accepting it at face value. But inside he feels sorry for Kira. The girl is hooked but Sehun definitely can’t be. He’s gay through and through. Even Yixing can tell and he’s the dense one.
Kyungsoo sighs as he sees Yixing’s blank judging look on Sehun and Kira. He doesn’t think too much into the act. He knows that his group has boundary issues. Kira and Sehun are really physically intimate. Kai is a hyung whore. Yi Fan and Tao like a little PDA now and then. Kai is a hyung whore. Baekhyun and Chanyeol, unlike Tao and Yi Fan love flaunting their relationship. Kai is really a hyung whore who can’t stop from sweet talking everyone.
All of this bound to be overwhelming. Heck it’s overwhelming for him at times. And he’s known most of the people here really long. So it must definitely be overwhelming for the new guy.
Especially now, when Kai is trying to strike up a flirty conversation with Yixing. Luckily Yixing is too slow to realize it or just good at feigning disinterest. Kai claims that he doesn’t like Yixing that way. He’s only doing it for the thrill of the challenge.

Kyungsoo swears he is a hundred per cent done, in his mind. Minseok just smiles knowingly to himself. He finds all of them annoying. But on a good day, their antics are endearing. Sehun drops Kira on the floor next to him and she exclaims indignantly. Sehun just shrugs everything off with a grin and then sits down next to Tao who is busy texting Yi Fan. Kira shakes her head and mutters under her breathe before innocently sitting between Kai and Yixing. Kai shoots her a look and she grins back. He rolls his eyes and concentrates on his next target - Byun Baekhyun. But he already has ‘don’t you dare try’ look on his face.
Kai can swear they are no fun.
Fun arrives in the form of Luhan and Chanyeol coming in from their Analog Systems lab. They are his sole entertainment on dry Thursdays. They love bitching about the lab assistant who apparently loves hitting on Luhan. And Luhan always drags in Chanyeol for his defence. Those are the moments Chanyeol feels like swearing. Who likes to be in the purview of a clear paedophile anyways?
“Get a boyfriend. If he knows you are taken maybe he will back off” Jongdae suggests. He sits down next to Baekhyun and Minseok. He can tell from Chanyeol’s look that they are back to that creepy lab assistant again. He can swear. They seriously need to find a new topic of conversation on Thursdays. Luhan shakes his head. “Or I could just punch him for you” Kira offers. “I don’t want you anywhere near the pedo bear” Chanyeol says warningly.
Chanyeol is the second closest to Kira among the eleven men (First naturally being Sehun). Well twelve now. He still hasn’t gotten used to including Yixing. Though he is a cool guy. He plays the guitar just like Chanyeol does and he feels a sense of camaraderie with the man. Even if he isn’t used to counting him in. He is sure that it will ease in eventually.
“Please can I just punch him? There will be so many people relieved if he’s gone” Kira insists. These are the moments where you realize that it isn’t odd to have a girl in the group. She is a tomboy with probably more pride and love for violence than most of the group combined. “Drop it Kira” Chanyeol groans. Kira rises up her hand in defeat but exchanges a look with Sehun. Chanyeol can already feel some sort of plan forming.
But he has no chance to discourage the idea as Yi Fan comes in. With the table already overpopulated, the waitress offers to join in the adjacent table which is now free. Comfortably seated the conversation begins again. The topic is different this time. Everyone is more than willing to forget about a random paedophile on their case.
“I have news” he says with a heavy sigh. “What’s up?” Tao asked. “The exam schedule is out” he announces. There is a chorus of surprise. It’s way too early. Everyone takes their phones out and log onto the college website and sure enough it’s there. A simple italicised link under the new Announcements tab. Collective groans are heard as soon as the group reads out the schedule spread out over two hectic weeks.
“I don’t have any break between my exams” Baekhyun starts looking at his incredulous schedule. He can’t believe it. Each of his five courses needs at least three thick books to be studied. Some a good four. And he barely has time to revise between them. “At least yours get over early. Mine are all squished in the last week” Jongdae grumbles. “You think that sucks? All of mine get over in the first week but there has to be that damned Computer Programming exam on the last day of the second week” Sehun whines. Who does that? Who in the world does something as cruel as that, Sehun demands to know. But naturally that won’t be answered. Everyone is dejected.
“I’m guessing you guys saw your schedules?” Joonmyun says as he draws up a chair. He arrived late thanks to his music club meeting. But he catches on to the conversation pretty quick. “Our schedules suck. What are yours like?” Kira asks him. “Like Satan himself wrote a personal sonnet of hate” Joonmyun says. Kira shakes her head. Joonmyun is a language major. And he has a really odd way with his words at times. Still the group draws solace from the fact that they are all in misery.
“Well we have a month to think about this. Till then misery pizza party on Saturday?” Luhan asks. It’s a group tradition. Every time they get a bad news or good news, they have a pizza party. Boxes upon boxes of cheesy goodness and bottles of alcohol (for the overage and underage alike). “It’s music night, remember?” Joonmyun reminds him. Luhan remembers now. Joonmyun will be performing. “Let’s just have a late Saturday night party. We’re all free on Sunday anyways” Luhan suggests and everyone agrees.

Yixing looks at Kira closely. It comes as no surprise to him when he finds her crying on Luhan’s couch, all by herself when no one is around.
Yixing knew it was bound to happen. Last night, they group got a lot little drunk. And under the dereliction of alcohol, Sehun kissed Luhan. Thankfully everyone else (except Minseok for some reason) was too drunk to remember. But Luhan and Sehun didn’t waste any time. In fact the newly formed couple had gone to get their very first bubble tea together right now. Everyone wished them well but no one was a morning person. The group frankly had a headache from all the melodrama going on.
But Yixing couldn’t help but feel bad for Kira. The girl was practically attached to Sehun. To see physical proof that he was gay must have hurt a lot. So he took it upon himself to make the young one feel better.
“Kira. It’s okay” he starts in a very determined tone. “What?” she asks, still a bit choked up. “It’s okay. I know it feels like the world has ended but it hasn’t. The sun will come up again. Tomorrow is a new day” he insists. “Are you still high?” she asks him warily. “I know of a way to deal with this. Come with me” he says taking her hand. Kira is too suspicious to protest. And she’s always been a curious child. She secretly has this theory that Yixing must be a junkie. The dude spaces out so much. It can’t be normal. Maybe he’ll show her his secret stash or something. Kira bites her lip, preparing the drugs are bad for you speech in mind. She is ready to go to the length of an intervention. Most of the group is here anyways. Except for Tao and Kris. And even they aren’t really far away. Just in the floor above in Kris’ apartment with Baekhyun and Chanyeol.
So when they end up on the roof, she is more than surprised. “If you are heartbroken, this is a really effective way” he tells her, leading her to the ledge. “Are you suggesting suicide?!?!” she freaks out. Yixing is more far along than she originally thinks. She needs to get him to an intervention. The sooner it takes place, the better. “No, idiot. I am telling you to scream your heart out. It always works” he says wisely. “Yeah. As a short cut to jail for being a public menace!” Kira exclaims. Yixing rolls his eyes.
“Look, I know you feel bad for Sehun dating Luhan” Yixing starts calmly. You need to be patient with an emotionally distressed person, you see. “But that’s life okay? It doesn’t always work your way. So just let it all out. Scream and let it all go” he said, gesturing towards the sky with a dramatic sigh. Now Kira is sure Tao and his love for K dramas is a really really bad influence on Yixing. “So I just go to the railing and scream?” she clarifies. Yixing nods. Kira takes in a deep breath as she heads to the railing. Yixing follows but keeps his distance out of respect. Kira opens her mouth and lets out what she really feels.
“DEAR WORLD, ZHANG YIXING IS AN IDIOT BECAUSE HE THINKS I AM IN LOVE WITH SEHUN WHEN I AM NOT!”
Yixing’s mouth drops open. But he has no time to reply because he hears Sehun scream from the ground floor.
“HEY! WHAT’S WRONG ABOUT BEING IN LOVE WITH ME?!”

In fact you can’t imagine how glad I am! At least now he won’t start his constant Luhan praise speech at three in the night on my phone” she says happily. Yixing gapes at her. “Then why were you crying back at the room?!” he demands to know. “Oh that... thanks for reminding me” Kira says. She goes back to the ledge.
“BYUN BAEKHYUN YOU ASSHOLE! HOW DARE YOU GIVE ME A SAD DOG MOVIE TO WATCH?”
“KIRA, YOU FILTHY CHEATER! YOU SAID YOU WOULD WATCH IT WITH ME!” Chanyeol yells up from the balcony right under them.
“I AM NOT THE FILTHY CHEATER! YOU AND BAEKHYUN ALREADY SAW THE MOVIE LAST WEEK WHILE CELEBRATING THE END OF YOUR EXAMS! YOU GUYS DITCHED ME!”
“WE DIDN’T DITCH YOU! WE WERE GOING TO WATCH IT WITH YOU AGAIN THIS AFTERNOON!” Baekhyun screams finally joining into the conversation.
“ARE YOU MASOCHISTIC?! WHO WATCHES RICHARD GERE AND HACHI DIE AGAIN AND AGAIN?!” Kira yells shocked.
“RICHARD GERE AND HACHI DIE?!” Joonmyun yells in shock from his apartment which is two floors down. Yixing does a double take because he had no clue the others are listening as well. “THANK YOU FOR RUINING IT FOR THE ONES WHO HAVEN’T SEEN IT!” Jongdae yells up, consoling a crying Joonmyun. “THANK BAEKHYUN AND CHANYEOL!” Kira screams in a huff.
“GUYS IT’S TEN IN THE MORNING! WILL YOU CUT IT OUT?!” Tao yells with a heavy accent. Normally he doesn’t speak with an accent. Yi Fan has been teaching him well. But it tends to come out when Tao is hungover or experiencing extreme emotions like watching the main lead of his favourite drama choose the wrong guy. Yet again.
“SHUT UP TAO! I AM EMOTIONALLY DISTRESSED!” Kira protests, winking at Yixing. People have come out of their apartments now to reprimand the ones creating a ruckus on a peaceful Sunday morning. Tao yells up in Mandarin causing Yixing to chuckle. “Okay that’s enough” he says. “No. I am waiting for that old cad on the fourth floor to come out. I have stuff to say to her too” Kira says in an unusually determined tone.
Help comes in the form of Sehun who ends up lifting and throwing Kira onto his back in an attempt to shut her up. The bickering starts and Yixing grins, amused at the whole affair. Maybe yelling down rooftops only works in dramas. But it sure as hell is amusing in real life.
